trimming it up

okay I got a couple ?'s

well I got my lift on. I got 32 11.50's with a 2" body lift , t-bar tweak and shackles.

I got a 2" shackle and I only could get 1.5 out of my bars without it being to much so If someone wants to trade me for 1.5 mabye we can work something out.

If not im gonna drill them again. Do I need to go an 1" lower on the shackle to get a .5" right?

also I was wondering for thos who have close to the same setup how bad did you half to trim cause I pretty much got to cut the corner of my fender's off.

I thought about selling my 32s and getting 31s but even then it still looks like I would half to take some of my fender in.

pics welcome

Re: trimming it up

Your right on the shackles. Do you have wheels on it that cause them to stick out more than stock?

Re: trimming it up

I think that is like 2wd back spacing. My s10 had an offset similiar to that and 235's I think and rubbed like a b!tch when turning sharp. Did you just get the wheels too or did you already have them on there?

Re: trimming it up

all i can say is you will rub... best thing to do is sit down with a sawzall one day and turn the wheels and trim as you go. it's hard to say an exact amount to trim off... every rig is different. i basically trimmed as i went for my 31s. heres the best pic if have that shows the trimming...

hard to see... but you can tell i trimmed the very bottom of my outer fender at an angle. the inner fender i just hammered with a bfh until it didnt rub anymore on flat ground.

even though you trim... you should still expect it to rub some when wheeling or on really uneven ground.

Re: trimming it up

I trimmed a little on the wheel wells a few months ago and I dont hit when I turn.
I hit when wheeling .

and the wheels I have hade for awhile I wanted to get 4.5 bs but summit didnt have them at the time.

also my tires stick out pretty far ill half to get some pics but I dont like fender flares all that much.
I think it looks like I built it with out knowing anything.

will zr2 fender flares fit up? . I think they are hard to find

Im gonna half to do the same thing .

I thought about driving one tire up on a ramp till it hits then marking how I want to cut then just repeat till I get it how I like.

Re: trimming it up

zr2 flares wont fit because the fenders have a built in lip that holds the flares on. you'd have to get zr2 front fenders and a zr2 bed to make it work. that = lots of $$$$$

Re: trimming it up

i assume you are a second gen truck, though i cant remember for sure. i think the first and second gen's have different openings, i fit 32's (mind you on stock rims) on my first gen with no lift and only slight trimming.

Re: trimming it up

yeha I got a 2nd gen
i thought about getting 31s but i think i still would half to trim
its becaue of my back spacing

if i get a wheel thats stock bs the 11.50 will then rub on the frame real bad right?

Re: trimming it up

only at full lock, and the thing to remember is this. tires rubbing the frame is not really hard on either the tire or the frame. tires rubbing the fenders is hard on both the tire and the fender.

Re: trimming it up

Check it: http://www.s10forum.com/forum/f134/3...i-come-364425/

I don't rub so far. If you use the stock wheels, you won't rub on the fenders, if you use the 2WD wheels (like I am) you'll have to trim. My 30/31's only rubbed the sway bar and the frame - which didn't hurt anything at all.

Re: trimming it up

If I put my tires on stock 4x4 wheels i belive they are 15x7's well my bighorn says that It should be only mounted on 15x8's will that hurt it.

Re: trimming it up

no, it will be fine on 15x7 rims. i would probably run up to about a 35x12.5 on a 7" wide rim if thats all the budget would allow.
