Hopefully I will be in possession of a 94 Blazer later today and need to know what is the widest knobbiest tire I can put on without a lift. This will probably more for looks than anything. But must do good in snow and mud.
Thanks Mike 03' Acura TL - S |

The stock tires on that truck should have been 235/75/15. That tire is 28.9 inches tall, and 9.25 wide. I think you should be able to fit a 30x9.5 in there without too much trouble.

What part of it doesnt look good? Can you post a pic? I'm looking at going with a 3" body lift next year, with 31's, and am very curious to see how it looks before I commit to it...
Anyone got pic's? I've got a 2000 4x4 4 door blazer... |

I have 31x10.5x15 on my 94 blazer without rubbing, But i did crank the T-bars.
The only problem I have is it feels tippy. I am planing on buying a 3" body lift in the next week, and I'm thinking of either A 5"T.M. or a 6.5" Truckin suspension lift this winter. Then it will be finish off with a 2 superlift in the spring. I only wish I could find some wheels for it soon, But i dont know what my final tire size will be. I wish I could find someone with that set-up, then I would know how much B.S. I would need. Last edited by 95tahoelt : 11-04-2003 at 05:05 AM. |

Well, I am looking into a 4wd swap for my 1984 Long Bed. Going to be running a 5" trailmaster lift. Also trimming the fenders so that 35x12.50s don't rub. Tires will be Mickey Thompson Baja Claw Radials on 15x10 Classic II wheels with 3 5/8" Backspacing. Considering sectioning the fenders to keep a stock apearing opening. Should be a total pita, but worth it.

Will 30x9.5 15's fit on stock 94 rims? If not, what size rim do I need to get?

I've seen 36x12.50 radials on a IFS truck before. Never heard of anything bad happening |

The stock IFS isnt strong enough to handle the added load. It will last for a while, but wear will be greater and faster, and the likelyhood of parts breaking is greater.

35's on IFS is a really bad idea...i wouldnt run anything over 33" on IFS, and im sure people do, but i wouldnt want anything breaking, and having to haul it out of 3 feet of mud to fix. also, just a ? for all you guys who do a IFS lift - why not use the money for a SAS? a D30 would be stronger than the IFS, and it would be about the same price, including install, id think. not downing anyone with a lifted IFS, just wondering about the mindset is all.

A SFA swap isn't very easy. It is not a simple task. not as simple as just lifting the stock IFS. And saying you saw 36's on an IFS truck doesn't mean squat. I have seen 44's on IFS trucks. It don't mean that they don't change ball joints every other month, (depending on how much they drive them of course). Half shafts are not meant to take the kind of load that can be exerted by a larger tire. I am running 32" swampers on my S-10 blazer right now. I ma greatly concerned about their survival. I know they will break, and hopefully, someone will be able to pull me out so I can go home and put new ones in. And when you take the axle out of the donor truck, you best rebuild it before you even think of putting it in your truck. Also, think about gears, maybe you will lock out and get the same ratio that is in the rear end. Now you have to think about bolt pattern. Afre they different? Probably, so now you have to change the rear end. Steering linkages, placement of springs, alignment, it all plays in to the factors involved here. You don't just go throwing one in. it takes time to get it to work right. And when you set the spring pads, be damn sure you have the right caster, or you will be wheel swapping all the way down the road. Ever let go of the wheel at 10 MPH in reverse? What happens? Now picture that happening going forward all the time. That's what your caster is for....

You're welcome. I still run that size with no rubbage on my 2wd
. With a 1" lift up front I could run 31x10.50s with just frame rubbing...nothing major. I like the stuffed wheel well look |

I have a friend with a 2002 zr2 and he is wanting to put 31x12.50's on it. Will he have any trouble with that size of tire? He was also wondering if it would effect gas mileage much?
THanks |

Currently i'm running a 92 S10 Blazer with a 5" trailmaster lift, 33" BFG Mud terrains, with 5.5" of back spacing, I have the extended cutout fender flares and the tires rub the anti-sway bar at full lock. I'm pretty happy with the look and ride, but the front end ifs sucks. I have probably put about 40k on it and i need to rebuild the entire front end already. I have had to replace ball joints, tie rod ends, upper and lower control arm bushings (completely worn out), pitman, idler, etc. I definately wouldn't go bigger than 33"s on the small ifs. I also have a 350 and 4:10 gears. I hope to be doing the SAS this winter, but i'm not sure if i'll get to it. I'm new to this forum and i want to put up some pics, but can't figure out where to do it, any help would be appreciated. I'd like to show it off!!
