Re: SAS How Much?

it depends how resourceful you are. i recently did the math, and i have about $3,000 in my blazer not counting labor as it sits. that is locked front and rear, (5) good tread 38's, 4 linked rear, dual cases, everything.

770 for tires
120 for wheels
200 for body lift
660 for gears
200 for axle and springs
400 for shocks
160 for x-over steering
50 for heim joints for steering
100 for front DS

Re: SAS How Much?

you guys are rich...

the only money i've spent on mine is on the Reid Racing (Dedenbear) knuckle and the high steer arm at my dealer cost, and $300 on my tires/wheels.
the rest were freebies or extra parts we have....i'm cheap.

Re: SAS How Much?

I've been giving thought to SAS'ing my S10, and taking apart my jeep to do so, which has a D30, 8.8 and is already geared and locked.. Who knows though.. SAS is expensive no matter how you slice it.

Re: SAS How Much?

in my opinion, its not the sas that is the expensive parts, its all the stuff that a sas lets you have like lockers and big tires. the actual swap of the axle can be super cheap, if not free. but people always add the cost of lockers, gears, big tires, etc. that is just poor communication in my book, that stuff is not needed, just wanted. if you were to add up the cost i would have spent to finish my SAS with coils in the front like my original plan, i could have had the axle in there for less that probably $150. it the fact that i added a locker, gears, fancy crossover steering, a doubler, etc that i have $3000 in my whole truck.

A good number of the parts of those parts were purchased below book value for various reasons. Had it all been bought at retail cost, it would have gone over that for sure.

It's not so cheap when you stray away from basic leaf spring setups and bolt-on's is it?
