Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
You don't want my 33s. The A/Ts are nearly drag slicks and the front M/Ts I'm gonna use one for a spare and one my buddy Zach is gonna use as a spare for his Heep.
You can have the two A/Ts if you want them when I'm done with them for measuring purposes, but they are more like 32.5s cause of the lack of tread. |

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
Yeah, right now I need just one for measuring purposes to see how much I'm hacking off my new fenders and bedsides. I've been scowering craigslist but haven't found anything good yet. I'm looking for a decent set of used 33's to throw on there to do some light wheeling - becuase you've see what I have on there for tires now!
Edit: Wait, are those tires going on that Ranger? Last edited by ChrisInVT : 04-01-2008 at 11:35 AM. |

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
No, that Ranger is getting a 2" BL and 31s. He already has the rims and tires from a previous truck. All we're waiting on is the BL to come in.
I'll let you know when I get my 34s |

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
Trucks comin along good.
I was thinkin of another really good cheap mod for ya ![]() Get rid of the remote oil filter setup before it fails on ya. The part to do it only costs like 9 bucks and IMO is well worth it |

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
Yep, just take the whole assembly off including the line that goes into the radiator. Then you just screw the fitting in and the filter just spins right on. And another bonus is it still takes the same filter.

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
plumb your power steering into it, or use it as another trans cooler.

I'll have to look into it more and see where the lines actually go

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
You might be thinking about your transmission lines, they definitely go into the radiator.

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
I know the transmission lines do. I have an auxiliary transmission cooler already. I'm talking about the lines to and from the oil filter. I've never really paid any attention to them and where they go. So next time I change my oil I'll take note and move the oil filter.
I kinda have to anyways so that I can put my winch on top of my leaf cross member. |

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
UPDATE!!: Holy crap it's been a while since I updated. So I'm ordering shocks either tonight or tomorrow. I'm going to TRY to put in my transfer case this weekend. I got held up because one of the guys that owns the garage I usually work in was doing his clutch on his Samurai and it's taken him almost a month to finish. He's one of those that just lacks motivation so he starts a job and doesn't finish it. But finally he should be done tomorrow or Thursday. Once the transfer case is in I'm getting an XJ drive shaft from a guy a few towns over. Then I'll have 4wd! After the drive shaft and shocks all I need is to get my new tires. Then it's trail time.
Anyone have pictures of how they mounted their shocks, front and rear. I would appreciate ideas. |

Those drive shafts I gave you won't work with your setup?

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
I want one with a CV joint at the transfer case end. I just took the ones you gave me in case I couldn't find a CV drive shaft once I got the transfer case in. The ones you gave me didn't have CV joint.
Thats what I need^ Plus the XJ shaft will be a little more beefy than the one you gave me. I do appreciate you giving them to me, I just don't need them. So when we gonna strip out that Blazer you found? |

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
If yours flexes anything like mine, that shaft will pretty much be worthless. I get about 3/4 way through my travel and then the shaft seperates.
Im not saying it will happen with yours , but I just thought Id give you a heads up |

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
I've never herd good things about square drive shafts. I do drive this truck on the road a little so I don't want something that is going to vibrate itself to pieces.

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
What was done to it before I got it was the guy took the vacuum off and flipped it 180 degrees so that the front axle is engaged all the time. Basically it's a cheap way of putting in a one piece axle shaft. So mine will spin all the time.

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
So you're stuck with full-time 4WD?
That sucks (for on-road use at least). |

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
I wouldn't call it full time 4WD. Because my transfer case won't be locked in all the time. Basically it'll act like a newer D30 because the differential is open.

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
yeah, its not quite full time 4wd, but its the same as driving around with the hubs locked in. you'll get worse gas mileage and wear and tear, etc. but since the shaft doesnt turn, the wheels still dont get power.

Re: Project: 1995 s10 SAS
Whats the difference between what I'm doing and a newer D30 with a one piece axle shaft?
