Baggey, the trucks lookin good man. And for your t-case problems I have the answer
92-97 NP233 have the bigger 1.25" chain and 98 and up have the smaller 1" chain. So since yours is a 95 you have the bigger chain. Youll need a front output shaft from 88-90 s-10 NP231. And youll also need a front output shaft seal from an 89 XJ w/ The NP231 t-case. Also if you wanna run a cv type front driveshaft youll have to get a cv yoke from a XJ with a cv stle driveshaft. Would it be easier if I swapped in a 231 transfer case? Would that have the output shaft I want for a CV front drive shaft?

Pm KY Mudhunter on s-10extremists and see if he still has the output shaft you need. I know he told one of the new members there that he had one in a recent post but I dont think the guy bought it. Hes where i got my front output and cv yoke from. Splitting the case and swapping the shaft out isnt hard at all. It took me like an hour and a half and I learned something new

So I just got a message from KYMudhunter on s10extremist.org. He has the output shaft I need and may have a CV joint for me.
I also got a message from ANOTHER forum (www.neow.org) and theres a guy in NH that has an extra 231 that he'll give me for $50 (it might be from a Jeep, is there any difference?). It's on my way home from Vermont to Mass so pickup would be easy. My question is which would be better/easier? I've never dropped a transfer case before so how difficult is that? Or would I just be better off swapping the output shaft and keeping the electronic shift? |

Im pretty sure all the Jeep cases run the 1" chain, and I think they have a different input spline count. So thats pretty much out of the question. Id just grab the output shaft and yoke from KYMudhunter and slap it in. Taking the t-case out is easy as pie. You wont have any problems. That said, I would just swap the output shaft and keep the electric shift. I like the electric shift and will only do away with it if it craps out on me.

Okay, the guy that has the extra 231 said he has a variety of output shafts. So if KYmudhunter doesn't have exactly what I need I have a backup.

yeah, sorry i never got around to getting you pics. but the questions were answered anyways.
i would think swaping the whole case would be better, but that is because i am not a huge fan of the complicated shifting system of the 233. it would also mean cutting a hole in the floor, which may not sound good to some people. to answer the jeep 231 questions, they come in 21 and 23 spline, but no 27 spline like you need for a chevy trans. |

All you need is the front output shaft for 1.25" chain, the nut that holds the yoke on, the cv yoke, and a front output shaft seal for an 89 XJ w/np231 t-case. Oh and some Gasket sealer and some atf to fill the t-case back up when your done.
The swap is pretty easy. You just start taking it apart from the tailshaft down. If something doesnt want to come apart theres most likely a snap ring holding it on. So dont for ce the hell out of something unless you know you have all the snaprings off. If you think youll have a hard time remembering how to put it back together just snap some pics of the teardown process so you have something to refer to. If you could do an SAS you should have no problem tearing down a t-case |

KY just sent me a message saying he has the output shaft and yoke but he is unsure of the seal I need.
So if I go to a parts store and tell them, "I need a front output shaft seal for an 89 Jeep Cherokee" they'll give me what I need? |

yea, I would kinda rather have a manual shift Tcase anyway. It's more reliable than the electric ones. I'm gonna make some calls tomorrow and see what I can stir up

Well I all I want/need is an output yoke I can put a CV shaft into. I can get a conversion Ujoint to make the s10 transfer case fit the Cherokee drive shaft. Thats what I did with my rear axle. Cause right now my front output shaft doesn't accept a Ujoint, it's weird
