no 4wd?

2002 Blazer ZR2. 71000 miles on it.

I press the button for 4H and 4L and nothing happens except the light changes to each option. The 4x4 does not kick in and engage like it supposed to. i didnt know where to put this in, which forum. so i came in here.

I put it in neutral and back up and everything yet nothing happens.

Anyyyy ideas? i wanna get this fixed so i can go wheelin again.

Re: no 4wd?

When you push the button, can you hear the t-case shift?

4HI you could select in drive or neutral or park, it dont matter. 4LO you Have to shift into neutral and be going 3mph or less.

Re: no 4wd?

I think the 3mph thing is funny. Like who thought of that? why not 2? or 7?

Re: no 4wd?

I dont know who thought of it but its true. I tried shifting it in at 5mph and the light would just blink and it wouldnt go in. Hit the brakes and it shifted right in. Another one of GM's annoying little quirks.

Have you ever done it at anything more than that? You'll eat the dashboard if you're in gear, trust me... Even 3mph is a bit much.

And if you're manually in 1st gear and do it at anything other than a full stop, it's VERY fun.

Whenever I shift my truck into 4LO I put the transmission in Neutral - it's easier on the drivetrain and easier on me too!
