Re: Got the blazer today...found some mud and...

As promised heres some pics of the truck...I do have all 4 of the chrome wheels but i had to install my spare that the seller gave me off of an olympic edition 2wd parts truck since one of the tires on the chrome wheels was completely screwed...

Only paid $700 for the truck and for the most part all it really needs is a tune up and a new muffler to be a decent running lil truck..

In miles it comes out to 155383 Miles and in Kms its 248613. From first driving impressions..i forsee needing to put in new plugs and wires..Probably wouldnt hurt to throw in a cap and rotor as well. Def need to run some fuel system treatment through the lines and carb. The truck sat for 2 years prior to my buying it today. The main thing i need to get used to is being up high compared to being in a low slung cadillac...But as of today Project Blackout begins..

Mudding? i see no evidence of that. Truck looks clean...

The steering wheel is installed terribly wrong. Looks solid. Could use some paint.

Thats what i suspect they are off of. They fit pretty well other then the gaps where the cladding would be on the Jeep...But when i cover the lower part of the body with diamond plate i will probably form rock guards where it meets the flare to hide those gaps..i travel on enough gravel roads that i can justify adding the lower body armor to the truck. The one other bonus about the jeep flares is that i could cut some of the existing fenders sort of like when cut out fender flares are used.

do a body lift, crank the t bars, add some shackles and then throw some 32's on that bad boy. Perfect mud rig.

Re: Got the blazer today...found some mud and...

How large of tire can i use if i were to lift the truck with a Superlift 2" suspension lift and Bushwacker cut out fender flares? I was going to body lift this truck but i decided against it so i can use headers when i build a new engine for it.

Everyone I talked to said that the 2in sus lifts suck and cause more problems than they are worth. Too much angle on the ball joints and cv shafts and stuff.

Yep, might as well just crank the t-bars and throw some lift shackles on the back. With the stock rims you can fit 31's by just beating on the inner fender with a BFH. Theyll rub the sway bar and frame a little bit but not to much.

That makes no sense... How is a body LIFT going to create problems with headers?

Re: Got the blazer today...found some mud and...

not building a V8 for this truck building a hopped up V6. And as for how the Body lift interferes with the headers its a clearance issue when it comes to the header and the steering shaft. Neo was the one that brought this point up.

I've never heard that before. The steering shaft doesn't change angles or anything, I'm not sure why it would create a problem.

I checked it out, and there's was no evidence that they won't fit, other than a "so and so said I'd have to modify them" kinda thing.

Still on the fence about the idea of a BL. Not exactly liking the idea of ordering some nice long tube headers and installing them then go to add a BL and find out i do have to mod something..

Ok..since it was suggested to go with a T bar crank and shackles instead..i will ask this..Will it be safe to assume i will be able to clear 30"s with the T bars cranked and shackles along with some sawsall surgery to fit bushwacker flares?
