What year 5 speed transmissions interchange?

I'm helping develop a new Infinitely Variable Transmssion (IVT) , and we want to build one to put in a S-10 pickup (I had a 86 S-15 and a 89 S-10 Blazer and I undestand how to work on Chevrolets) . We don't have the truck yet (still looking) , but I would like to get a transmission to take measurement off of etc.. We'll probably end up with a 1995 to 2000 S-1. , Does anyone know if the same 5 speed would fit all of those years, or what year transmissions are different. Thanks for the help.

Yes most of the 95 & 96's had the NVG 1500. I know for a fact 97+03 have the NVG 1500's. Thats the 2.2's anyway.
The V6's should have the NVG 3500 in the same years.

Correct, as far as I know all of the 95/96+ 4.3 had the NV3500 as well as the full size trucks with a 4.3 which also have an NV3500 albeit with very slightly different ratios
