transfer case bolts not lining up

i just pulled the motor out of my 90 s10 and dropped in a new one, its a 4.3 so that was fun by its self. im trying to mount the transfer case back up to the cross member but when i lower the t/c down to the cross member the bolt hole dont line up. it seems that the t/c is titled like 10-15 degrees. i tried putting a jack under the one side of the case to level it out but it just lifts the entire case up. ne sugestions?

Re: transfer case bolts not lining up

Did you switch from a 2.8 or 4 cyl. to the 4.3? If you did then did you change the mounts on the frame?

Re: transfer case bolts not lining up

Are you sure that it's sitting on the mounts right?

Re: transfer case bolts not lining up

Are you talking about the mount not sitting flat against the cross member, or the holes don't line up? If the holes don't line up then just push it over until they do and put the bolts in. I have to do that all the time. If it isn't sitting flat then you have another problem.

Re: transfer case bolts not lining up

ok, neither the rubber mount or the transfer case move side to side. im startin to thing that the problem lies in the fact that when the cross member was r&r'd the truck wasnt on level ground. so i think im gonna finish everything else to get it running then park it on a level surface and drop the member again and see if they line up then.

Re: transfer case bolts not lining up

I have to put a pry bar against the side of the transmission in my Camaro and push the transmission over to get the holes to line up. I think my S10 is the same way, but I can't remember for sure. I'll find out in a few days when I put the transmission and tansfer case back in.
