Re: t56 swap list, everything you need to know!

im not as familiar with the second gens as i am with the first gens but on my first gen truck the spot where the stock shifter should have came through the floor was stamped. the fire wall as also dimpled where the two master cylinder bolts went through the firewall.

everything was bolt in for me when i went from a 700r4 to a t56

RAM, if you don't plan on going any higher, a powergrip HD kit will do fine, if you start going crazy with more HP, slicks, etc. you'll need more clutch.

Re: t56 swap list, everything you need to know!

My buddy has a t56 he wants to swap me for my turbo 350. I got about a grand in my th350. I am doing it in about a month. I am just trying to figure out the swap. Does any one have a flywheel for and older style 350 pre 88 or do you know anyone with one. The t56 is coming out of a lt1 car 1piece rear main seal, and mine is a two piece. I think all I need is this flywheel and I'll be golden. My 350 is puting out around 450hp with 3.73 so it will be a blast to drive. I am just tired of racing and am converting the truck into show truck. Please let me know if you know anyone wih a flywheel or where I can get one for a good price. Also my trcuk was an original 1996 2.2 5 speed what should I do about the master out of the firewall, and the hydraulic line. I am getting everthing off the camaro so let me know what I need PLEASE.

Re: t56 swap list, everything you need to know!

hows the durability on the t56's... i know what the factory rating is on them, but thats often under rated, and i know ive seen them stock in some badass camaros/trans ams and still hold up... anyone have an idea on what the "real world" rating is on them?

Re: t56 swap list, everything you need to know!

60,000 miles, about 3,000 passes side-stepping the clutch at 6500 rpm with slicks running 11's and 12's over the last 7 years, and all I have had to do so far is replace the input shaft seal. This is after I bought it used also, so i would say it's pretty durable. I know SAM had one in Hot Rod a few years back that was running into the 10's without any mods.

Re: t56 swap list, everything you need to know!

LT1
I have talked to a lot of trany shops on these too, and they say the biggest problem they see is lack of lubrication, otherwise, pretty worry free.
