LSD or POSI?
did S-10 or any other GM vehicles (Camaros) come stock with an LSD or POSI that i could go to a junkyard and maybe find a whole rear end for cheap and have it be a bolt in for my 2001 S-10 4.3L 5 Speed RWD?

Re: LSD or POSI?
Or look on ebay for a Torsen Zexel out of an f-body. I got mine for just under $150 shipped. You can't use the rear end though. Just the Posi unit.
Here's some pics to help you know one when you see it: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by 12sws27 : 12-16-2008 at 10:19 PM. |

Re: LSD or POSI?
some 2wd 4.3's have LSD rear ends called a G80 differential. there are 7.5" ones and 8.5" ones, i dunno which trucks have which, im not sure if there is a 7.5 LSD or not tho. the 4wd's also have G80's but the 4wd axle will prolly be wider pushing your wheels out further so dont forget that. they've been in s10's since the 80's, look em up on ebay, you might even find a nice one with disc brakes

Re: LSD or POSI?
Find a rear end out of a 2nd gen 2wd 2dr Jimmy/Blazer with a manuel transmission that has the G80 code in the glove box. That should be a 8.5 with 3:42's. I think...

Re: LSD or POSI?
Am i able to use the entire rear end from an F-Body or just the posi/LSD unit itself? do they come with disc brakes? What should i look for in terms of codes in Vin numbers or gloveboxes? If i do get one from an F-body would i need to make new mounts for the shocks? Would my driveshaft bolt up well or would i need a new one of thsoe aswell? Sorry if i sound kinda dumb but im looking into this seriously and i just want to make sure i get what will work, thanks alot for all the help so far

Re: LSD or POSI?
You cannot use the "f-body axle." I repeat, you cannot use the "f-body axle."
Only thing you will be looking for is the differential, which is located inside of the rear end housing. Nothing will be changing on the outside. |

Re: LSD or POSI?
take them off the f-body axle and bolt them on yours. you will have to remove the axles to get the backing plates off.
there is a stickey in this forum about rear brakes |
