Loss of power

I have a 98 S-10 4x4 with a 4.3 V6 Manuel transmission. one day I first started to nottice my truck did not have the power it usually had, it did not have the same pick-upto it. well it started to get worse. pretty soon it took me about 2min to go 100 yards with me giveing it all it had. I was on my way to work when it got this bad i was trying to get it home, but when i went to it at the end of the day it would start fine, but it sounded like I was just reving in up in nuetrul. the egine sounds fine, just no power. I had no problems shiftting at all. any ideas?

Re: Loss of power

do you mean it idles high? im confused on the revving in neutral part...... unless you mean that the clutch is slipping..... when you accelerate in gear, it feels like you are just revving it? thats the clutch..... if not, just try to be a little more specific

Re: Loss of power

tranny broken ? first gear busted ? ive seen a few of the 5 speeds break internally and lose a gear or two.. andhave bits and pieces broken inside them

even the 2.8L ones i have seen do this the early 90s ones before the good stronger years of them

doesnt take much sometimes

this is why i prefer auto trannies

good luck
