limited slip?

how would i ever find out if my truck has a limited slip rear end? i had a bad tire so i put the spare on which is an inch smaller than the rest of the tires on the truck. i was told by a very knowledgable person that driving a limited slip rear end with different size tires is pretty hard on it.

Re: limited slip?

go in some dirt and floor it
if 2 tires spin you more then likely have a limited slip

Re: limited slip?

sounds like to much fun but i have one small restriction with that. im 15 years old with a learners permit and can't drive without my mom or dad. might be kind of sad that im on here posting and such, i know. but the truck is actually mine so im trying to learn to work on them and such. so yea....can't do a traction test to check for about 10 more months lol.

Re: limited slip?

apparently it doesn't have the limited slip. getting 2 new rear tires today anyway so it won't matter

Re: limited slip?

if ya wanna do that then put one tire on the pavement and one in the dirt. because my 1 wheel peel will still pull both in the dirt.

Re: limited slip?

Couldnt you just swap a front tire with the back and run your spare up front?

Re: limited slip?

to see if you have limited slip, most trucks rear diff have it if it is limited slip, is that on the back of the diff there will be 2 tags on bolts. That will tell you that you have limited slip.
