Rear tranny seal's been out for a while now. I've been trying to keep track of it, but when you drive 200+ miles a day for 5 solid months, it's easy to lose track. I found out just how easy this morning when my tranny went bone dry. Got it home, got the seal replaced, put the driveshaft back in, went to fill the tranny back up...I couldn't find a funnel anywhere, and I don't have a siphon pump. I went through everything I could imagine trying to find something that would work to fill the tranny that I had available, and couldn't find anything....until I remembered the high school beer bong made out of a funnel and a garden hose. With a 4 ft. section of hose and the cap from a bottle of hydraulic fluid, it took less than 2 minutes to have the fill plug back in and the truck ready to go.
Turns out the teenage alcoholics were on to something. (I don't have to replace my tranny, I'm kinda happy about it. I just felt like sharing.) |
