GT4 Rearend questions!
Hey guys I have a question can I use any GT4 rearend from a S10 first or second gen. Or just a second gen or what? I know that they look different. Because mine has a dampener or something on the pinion gear shaft before it connects to the drive shaft. And most first gens dont so I wasnt sure about if the drive shaft length was different or anything. So if any of you could help me out.

Re: GT4 Rearend questions!
From what I've seen rootin around the junk yards for the last week, the damper on the diff yoke was only used on the 5 spd trucks. It was probably used for harmonic vibration. Mine went bad and I took it off and finally replaced it with a standard yoke. Driveshaft has one too, but it fit right up no problem. There was negligable diff in the length.

Re: GT4 Rearend questions!
So I now know that I can use one with out a dampener on it due to its just it having a 5 speed or not. What about what gens I can use? are they the same from 82+?

Re: GT4 Rearend questions!
the first gen trucks are 26 spine and 2 gen are 28 spine you need to stay around the same year as your truck or newer
