The NV1500 calls out for Syncromesh, It's probably not a good idea to use gear oil

Autozone says to refill with the LUCAS gear oil. Will I be OK with this? |

Re: Fill and drain Transmission--->See photo
autozone is a bunch of idiots, generally all the chain store employees are, i once went to a pep boys and asked for a rotor for a 93 s10, they said they didnt have it, i then asked for a rotor for a 86 monte carlo and it has been on my truck for a few months now.
Most GM transmissions dont use gear oil, they use ATF. and the best thing to replace it with is synchromesh. i plan on using it in mine when i change the fluid. the lucas will be too thick for the nv3500. although it may work and be fine i dont think it is a good idea. |

gm part #12345349
or you can use synthetic atf, which is better lube for a stick anyways. |

Re: Fill and drain Transmission--->See photo
I would stick with the syncromesh, its not worth taking the chance. Tranny rebuilds are no fun
