Downshift problem

I installed the orange box Transgo kit in my 2002 4.3 S10. Now when I am driving in 4th it seems like the transmission downshifts to 3rd and then shifts back into 4th within a second. I haven't driven it much since the problem started occurring, but it doesn't seem to do it while I am accelerating, just during cruising and deceleration. Any ideas?

Re: Downshift problem

Also, I forgot to check for clearance after installing that Gold Shim from the kit in front of the 4th piston. Could that cause the 4th piston to not engage fully?

Re: Downshift problem

if you have 2 rings on the tip of the servo pin, the gold shim makes the band too tight.

Re: Downshift problem

Re: Downshift problem

Would it be worth it to add a corvette servo and a sonnax billet super servo while I am in there? I have time to wait for the parts since I also have to install the lower intake manifold gasket on my truck.

Re: Downshift problem

um, lets get your trans problem figures out before we go adding more headaches. and a vette servo in an s truck that has NOT had the shell replaced with a hardened one is not a good idea.
