Question 4L60E tranny slipping and not wanting to shift when hot

I have a 94 extended cab 4x4 the transmisson slips very rarely when cold but when it gets up to temp it shifts ok in 1st and 2nd but it slips and bucks when trying to shift into drive, if you can get it to lock into drive its ok untill it has to shift down and it starts slipping and bucking again. any ideas? is it worth having rebuilt or should i look for another one??
Thanks for the help
