3/4 clutches are worn out, and the forward clutches are worn out.
they hold okay, but they have another holding element that helps them along, till you get to 3rd gear.
in first, you have forward, and low
in second, you have band and forward
in third you have forward and 3/4
in 4th, you have to throttle lift to get i, but you get the 3/4 clutches, and the band. you have so little torque requirement in 4th, that the band can hold enough to overcome worn 3/4's
yea for the most part i am. i bought this blazer begining of the summer and when i got it the engine was bad. and i knew it and i got a good deal on it. i was concerned with the trans cause the fluid had a burnt smell to it. not a bad one thou. i didnt have no way to test the trans cause the engine didnt run. i just got finished up today and went to take it for a test drive and thats when i found that i had trans problems
