Question 2.2 5 speed tranny on a 2.8 ???

The tranny in my 93 went bad the other day. I saw a tranny on craigslist thats out of a 2002 with 90,000 miles. My question is can i bolt this up to a 2.8 liter engine? my boss mentioned that the gear ratio between the 2 are diffrent but they would bolt up fine. Any input on this would be great. Thanx in advance guys!!!

Re: 2.2 5 speed tranny on a 2.8 ???

I know that the 2.8 and the 2.2 have the same bell housing bolt pattern. I'd imagine that the gear ratio difference would be in the rearend and not in the transmission but thats just my educated guess.

Um I'm not sure but I think your 93 would have a external slave on the transmission. I know for the v6 trans they went with a internal slave setup around 95/96 so I'd bet the 2002 trans has a internal. But again thats another educated guess. Just throwing stuff out there for you to think about.
