1st gear woes
I purchased a 1987 GMC S15 Friday. It has a 2.5L 4 banger accompanied with a 4 speed manual transmission.I've drove the truck everyday since friday and this morning was the first time I've had this problem.
I start up my car and when i try to shift into first gear it was very very hard. Going into second was not as bad and the other two gears were fine. Now when i'm coming up to a stop sign or red light I'll push the clutch all the way in and shift into first. It's still difficult and there is a kind of grinding/squeaking noise coming from the tranny while coasting to the stop even with the clutch all the way in. It sounds like it could be a bad bearing? <I have no experience working on cars, let alone transmissions so I wouldn't have a clue but if i could imagine a bad bearing sound, that'd be it. Any help would be appreciated. i looked a few pages back and didn't find a thread that was a match to my problem. let me know. Thanks. |
