We want your CODES!!

Aight guys, since it seems to be a slightly big issue around the country, anybody that has the vehicle codes for your state(preferably any cops on here) regarding anything that has to do with bags, such as stance, or loads, or adjustments while driving and that sort of stuff, that you can copy and paste, or type, e-mail them to me, Slammed_S10@cox.net. I will make a compilation of as many as possible and add them to the bag FAQ. I will not close this thread, but please, no usless posting, or it will be closed.

Thanks,
Matt

I live in North Carolina. I e-mailed the NCDMV and asked about the laws, and this is the response from them.

Mr. Barrientoz:
Your recent email concerning lowered vehicles was forwarded to my
office for a response. You can only raise or lower a passenger
vehicle 6 inches from the manufacturer's specified height. The
law does not address hydraulics or springs etc...
Thank you

Connecticut:

Lowest part of vehicle must be at least 4 " off the ground. That goes for x memembers, gastanks, etc that maybe below the frame rails.
Unsure of laws regarding bags and hydro's.

Most

Most dont have any clearance issuses but headlight placement issues. In most states the minimum height of your headlights should be no less than 22inches form the ground and no more than 56 inches form the ground. Thus no actual height regulation as the placement of your truck.

The State Troopers around here (Middle Tennessee) are telling us that the rear license plate must be 12" from the ground in the stock location.

I called the stat police office and in Illinois at this time, there are no limits to how low you can go except for;
*The gas tank cannot be exposed to cause damage to it when in an accident.
*The frame cannot make contact with the ground under normal driving conditions ( you cannot alter the ride height while driving).
*The wheels/tires cannot make contact with the body under normal driving conditions
Thanks to reddogg95s10, he e=mail me this information

Hey The General you left something out on the line that says No Vehicle shall be modified.....

It says that No vehicle shall be modified to cause the vehicle body or chassis to come in contact with the ground, expose the gas tank to damage from collision or cause the wheels to come in contact with the body UNDER NORMAL OPERATION.

here in cali I am pretty sure your headlights must be between 20 and 54 inches from the ground, your frame height must not exceed 48 inches. Your suspension cannot be in motion while driving on any road, this includes adjusting height at stoplights etc. Also the cops especially those damn CHPs like to get you if the body of the truck is below the rimline, so basically you can't tuck rims otherwise you get a ticket. I am almost positive on all those

Lift blocks between the front axle and springs, or lift blocks that exceed 4 inches in height between the rear axle and springs, are not allowed. Shackle replacements cannot exceed OE length by more than 2 inches, and ixnay on the coil spring spacers. In terms of acceptable height, less than 4,501 GVWR, and your frame height cannot exceed 24 inches, and the bumper height can't go beyond 26 inches. For GVWR's between 4,501 and 7,500, those numbers are 24 and 28 inches. For 7,501 and 10,000-pound vehicles, keep the height at 26 and 30 inches.

doesnt say anything about being low? but I have been and know of people who have been pulled over for being too low ticket says.........Vehicle must be atleast 12 inches frame to ground clearance........the only vehicles I found that meet this requirement are fullsize Trucks and SUV's. I also found that most cars come stock at around 10 inches frame to ground clearance!

Most cops in michigan dont say much. Most of the cars in my club are coiled-over or sittin on springs that have them pretty fockin close to the ground. My friend ric has a 96 eclipse he has coilovers on, and he bumps the road all the time in normal driving conditions. he has to be like 2 or 3" of the road. hasnt gotten hassled yet...

so either they dont care, or they dont know.

my friends got an x that's dropped 4/6 (definately less than 12" between the frame and the road) and he hasn't gotten any sh!t from the cops for it being too low....... usually they find something else to try to get him for...
