Viair Is Awesome!!!

Viair Is Officially The Best Company I Have Ever Dealt With. I Just Got Off The Phone With Lance Ordering My Rebuild Kits For Two Very Old Very Beat 450c's And I Have To Say He Is The Most Knowledgeable Friendly Person I Have Ever Dealt With. I Have Been Working In The Motrocycle Industry For Years, And If Everyone Was As Easy To Deal With As Lance My Job Would Be Easy As Cake. Huge Thumbs Up For Lance And Viair, I Will Never Deal With Another Compressor As Long As I Live!!!

When was the last time you followed up?
PM me with what you need, and a mailing address - I'll go grab the parts and send by US Mail. I sent out a bunch of free parts this morning to various persons, but they have to keep at me to make sure I'm getting the parts out the door for them.

Unfortunately, I can't remember everything - and I make mistakes just like anyone else. Freebies are the last thing I ever try to get done while at work, as you can understand I'm sure.

Thanks for the positive feedback from everyone. I dig this forum, and always try to do my best to help out whenever possible. I've been there, stuck without a way to drive my truck before... It blows. Having someone help you out is about the best thing in the world when you're otherwise S.O.L.

How many gallons? The 380Cs really need to work as a pair if you're storing 5 to 7 gallons. Plus, their amp draw is really low considering you're running two 200 PSI compressors. Get your 380C a buddy ASAP! -You will be able to extend the life of your existing single unit by double...

If the pump is less than a year old, it can be inspected under warranty. It may also be covered by warranty, depending on what it wrong with the unit. If out of warranty, you can still send it in, but there will be an inspection fee, plus any parts needed to restore it to acceptable operating specifications.

We don't sell rebuild kits, since that may cause you to buy parts you don't really need. If you do know what is wrong with the unit, PM me with the parts you need and I'll let you know a price.

Re: Viair Is Awesome!!!

lance,

just got the comps back together, and back on the truck, not upsidedown anymore YAY!! and they work great! i had no idea how slow they were before till i rebuilt them. Also i think all my tank air was leaking back through the compressors overnight, because now that i know i have working check valves i come out in the morning and have lost almost no pressure. i used to be at zero every morning after putting it away around 120-140

5 gallon , 1 380C right now, got a front bag kit from kris dye, my 6" drop up front rode like crap, bottomed out and ive always wanted air ride so i decided to just buy the kit and build off it.

moved my tank and compressor under the bed and now my right bag leaks and so does the tank, only thing i changed was putting 2 90* fittings on the tank and 2 ptc smc unions to extend the line.

replacing both front bags due to rubbing them (didnt cut pocket enough DOH) hoping its just one of the ptc wasnt pushed all the way in or something.

thinking of going with 2 480s cause id like more play time and im only front bagged. the 380C is always on, rarely shuts off

Scootch, all I can think of is that you have a crappy ground. Please check, and/or re-do the grounds. Hesitant operation like that is almost always a grounding problem/issue.

Re: Viair Is Awesome!!!

I love my Viairs. I have two 450s on an 8 gallon tank in my dime that I run to 175psi daily without a hitch (I know 175 exceeds the recommended pressure for a pair of 450s but they are so well built it has not bothered them at all in the almost two years on my truck).

I do have a question for Lance though,
I am in the process of putting an EDC on my truck (not because there is anything wrong with my Viairs, I just want a quicker recovery) and my Viairs will stay in place as a back up for incase the EDC would ever fail. I would like to paint the Viairs to make them look a little better since they are in the bed of the truck. Is it OK to paint the bodies with regular automotive paint and paint the heads with radiator paint or with this affect heat dissipation to much?

Thanks again for a great product and great service!!

If you choose to paint the motor housings, do so with a high temp paint that withstands up to 350 degrees. Sand them first with a fine grit sandpaper to promote adhesion to the original powder coat. The head I would not paint, but you can shine/brush it really nicely with a wire wheel equipped with a softer wire attachment... You can "turn" the front and rear covers if you have a very small wire wheel, which would look awesome!

Make sure you keep your EDC serviced, or you'll need those backups a lot sooner than you plan to!

BTW - OneLowSdime,

I didn't make the morning mail pickup, but your parts will be heading your way tomorrow morning... Sorry for the delay, you have my public apology for dropping the ball and failing to provide you with superior service.

There's a photo of the parts in your PM box, go check.

Re: Viair Is Awesome!!!

hey lance another question for you.i think it may be wiring but just wanna question it.

i have two viair 380's that run great and hard till they hit about 125psi and then they both shut off. both have filter on them with about 5 inch of tubing to the filter. they are both wired to one power wire and a 120 amp breaker switch. no pressure switch. any thing you ever heard of?

Thanks for the tips, I'll give a go at polishing the heads.

I will keep the EDC serviced, but if it does ever fail (belt, clutch, or whatever) I know my Viairs will be waiting and ready to keep me going.

The only thing that would shut bot compressors off at a specific pressure is a pressure switch. Why aren't you using a pressure switch? You may have damaged the motors, but I don't see why that would shut them down - they would usually just bog down if they were laboring.

Re: Viair Is Awesome!!!

i have not put my pressure switch in yet is because, my truck is still sitting in the garage. It was just a few times when i tried to move it in and out of the garage i use the compressors to fill the tank. They fill from zero to 125psi fine then all of a sudden they both shut off.so i thought i would just ask

Thanks for asking for help bro, its turned into help for others as well. I've sent out a few free parts every day since the thread started, including today!

Its under my Tundra, and was the install used in an issue of Mini Truckin' many moons ago now. Back then, I was running a 3 gallon tank and a 350C. After I came to work for VIAIR, I upgraded... Two 420Cs and five gallons, supplying air to a pair of quick connect couplers in the rear bumper mount, and a Hornblasters Shocker horn. I recently got a Nathan K5LA that will be going onto the truck as well...

Doesn't look like I have any photos of the horns, but they're there - just in front of where the spare tire used to be. That spot is going to be where the K5LA lives, just as soon as I get a mount fabbed up for it.

Since you asked....I got a question maybe you can help out with. I got a rebuild kit for my 2 450's which included the brush block end and the intake valve. Do you have any instructions or picts of how to install these parts? I tried to get the new ends on...but the damn blocks wont line up right with the motor end. Any help Lance?

There is an indent on the carbon brush assembly (end plate). There is also an indent on the motor housing. Line them up and set the plate as close as you can to the motor. Then, using a thin, flat-blade screwdriver (jewelers' type), unload one spring at a time and press the plate towards the motor. Seat the plate firmly and secure the end plate with your armature bolts. (The armature bolts are the hardest part really because they're steel having to pass near a monstrously powerful motor magnet.)

Hope this helps!
Let me know if you have any other questions please!

Re: Viair Is Awesome!!!

just picked up another 450 from a friend that needs a rebuild, i guess ill be callin you soon lance. 3 450s on a 5 gallon tank should be fast enough for now. Until i can afford some 480's!

Re: Viair Is Awesome!!!

Lance...here is a pict of what I think maybe causing the end block not to go on properly. This bearing on the end of the motor...its not supposed to be attached to it is it? There looks to be one on the new brush end you sent me.
