Did you build this yourself or did you buy it like this?

Re: tweaked frame.
how good are you with tools? you can cut the entire area out that has been "violated" and weld in a new piece of steel. you have an exact lenth x height of the problem area? a grinder adn welder are all thats required there. thats maybe a $30 fix (steel and a few cutting disks)
.................unless the whole frame (top sides and bottom) are tweaked, then disreguard my statement man, its hard to see exactly whats bent |

Re: tweaked frame.
i built the truck. it was not bent in anyway when i was building it. this has happened b/c the upper bag mounts.
i cant do a body drop this is my daily truck and it can be down for longer then a weekend. i could also try to get a diffrent frame and cut it from the cab backand just replace mine.but i am going to try and make enough money for a bolt on back half from sd. |

Re: tweaked frame.
I say get a frame from a boneyard and just start over. Fixing a bent frame on a daily is probably no easy task especially if it's your only way to get around.

Re: tweaked frame.
i have a ssc 2link. it doesnt have a panhard it has a crossbar between the two link bars. i would get a frame from a junk yard but it would probably take longer then a weekend to fix and re notch and all of that. im going to try an find a way to make enough to buy the sd bolt on back half it will take awhile but im going to try.

Re: tweaked frame.
take it to a collision shop that has a frame table. It would be easy as hell with a rose bud torch tip to heat that entire area up, and straiten it all out. The frame machine will be able to tell them if anything else on the frame is twisted because of this also.
once its fixed add gussets to the back side of the frame tieing the side, top and bottom all together. Last edited by 98layinframe : 11-17-2009 at 11:51 PM. |

Re: tweaked frame.
i go to school for auto collision. and we have a frame table in class. but i would have to pull my bed in order to pull the frame. and i couldnt do that in one school day. im going today to get some 1/4inch plate so i can try it get it fixed this weekend and im going to use the 1/4inch to plate allaround the stressed areas.

Re: tweaked frame.
well atleast heat up the twisted area and try to straiten them some before you go plating and boxing things in.

Re: tweaked frame.
Cut off your bag mounts, weld a 1/4" plate over the entire damaged area, put new bag mounts attached to 1/4". Nothing that couldnt be done on a friday night to sunday.

Re: tweaked frame.
This is a good example as to why you always need to reinforce frames first when adding bag mounts, either by adding thicker plate to the outside, or boxing/gusseting the inner rail.
