Re: [ProjecT] The Only Bagged AWD Syclone

I actually had a complete set-up for a tahoe in my possession about a year ago. It was sitting my my shop for years. I tried to sell it, but wasnt worth the time. Noone wanted it, and it was so f#@$in heavy that it would cost more to ship it than it was worth. Aim still makes it. The only problem I would see would be getting the travel youd want to lift and lay. The one that I worked on was totally hacked up to get it to fit. I could see some issues trying to get it to clear the exhaust, but i would have modified the exhasut before hacking up the Xmember like that customer did.

Jim, who did you buy it from? Or did you have it custom made. You've had it bagged for 10 years? Im very impressed with the truck. Other than the one that I saw, yours is the only one that I have seen installed. Im kinda impressed that the idea actually worked. On a light truck like an s10 it would work alot better than on a fullsize truck. How much travel do you get in the front from aired out to full lift?

The real beauty of it, is that it doesnt require cutting or hacking like some pple think. It can be made to bolt in. You can easily put the front back to stock, and a rear clip would be easy to get the truck back to FULL stock condition. Id love to hear more about the rest of the truck. Rear set-up, engine mods etc. next car I do is going to be a twin turbo V8.

Re: [ProjecT] The Only Bagged AWD Syclone

if someone could get this to work well enough, it would solve the problem the rest of us have with mounting shocks.

I bought it originally from Aim and modified it to fit my Sy yep I had problems with exhaust placement(Had to sell my Borla exhaust because it was unusable!) I bagged the truck a little over 10 years ago.The truck will now lay completely out without a problem and I can clear my 18s in the front by about 3inches or so(prbably more but I never measured. The rear is a first gen of the AirRide Technolgies Roadgrater with a 2wd S10 rearend with a locker and 3.42 gear to match the front. If you have any other questions abvout the truck I'll be happy to answer any of them,
Thanks for all the kind words

Re: [ProjecT] The Only Bagged AWD Syclone

if you wanna mount shocks and keep turning radius, just build a bracket to mount the shocks to the upper control arm and up towards the hood on the front side of the suspension.

mounting shocks = easy
installing a whole new crossmember and converting a 2wd to a torsion key suspension with bars = lots of work

Jim, Does it lay "frame" front and rear? You gotta get some newer pics showing all your work. I know everyone wants to see more pics.

awesome truck you got there.

with that front setup, it works kinda like a lever or cantilever so it should get decent lift.

Does this truck acutually sit that low being bagged like that? It seems like the torsions are not gonna allow it to sit down that far

plus I've only gone out there twice, not 4-6 days a week for 4-6 weeks straight

UPDATE JIM: I needed some fire wood and since your sub box was left at my house and taking up room ( wich i need the room to finish Luka's truck and my Blazer before Indy ) I torched that baby! The marshmellows tasted a little funny though, it must have been the carpet.

Re: [ProjecT] The Only Bagged AWD Syclone

Just kidding Jim! How is it coming?
I'm busting my ass on Luka's truck to get it done by the week end and then I have a few things to do to the Blazer but if you are in desperate need, let me know. My blazer can go to Indy just the way it is, but I have to get Luka's truck finished first. We are wiring and plumbing this week and we don't really need to put his tubs in to go to Indy. So if need be, me and Luka can start coming over every night as soon as his truck is drivable. Soo let me know! Later Bro!

Re: [ProjecT] The Only Bagged AWD Syclone

Well I'm officially stuck until tomarrow bot lower link mounts on the frame notch have to be cut and moved forward about an inch and a half and I dont have a welder guess I'll have to ask layinbody31 to weld the tabs back on in the right spots for me this 4wd frame must be bent slightly different because with the links completely screwed together as small as it'll get the axle is not centered in the wheelwell!!!Sorry for the rant but this has to be hurdle 1000 in a long line of things with this truck.Welcome to the world of one-off I guess

Re: [ProjecT] The Only Bagged AWD Syclone

Jim I have good news for ya. The welder is already loaded up in my truck and so I plan to come to your place right from work. With threading the lower bars all the way in to try to center the rear wheels, didn't that screw up your pinion angle big time? I doubt that the 4wd frame is that much different that it could be screwing things up so bad. My only thought is that the kit may have been able to slide forwards or backwards on the frame an inch or 2 in each direction and where you slid it over the framerails just happened to be 1.5" (or however off the wheels are) too far back. Just a thought. Don't forget that if I move the mounts down for the lower bars that the upper bars won't move and the pinion will be all funky. Unless we cut the upper bars and shorten them too...

yay we figured out why the axle was crooked in the frame and we fixed it yay. Now to get the wheels centered...
