nope cant say i do hit me up with it. And i actually got it off Egay. It was horrid tho when i actually looked closer at it. It's Fiberglass and so many hi and low spots, didnt even come with side hood mounts so I ended up getting a donor hood just to cut them off and make them. Ive got alot of time invested in that hood and Ive only seen one other like it in 3 yrs so that made all the work well worth it

Oh man...that last pic on page 7 really makes me miss working in a fab shop.

This build has really given me some ideas to re-do the backhalf in my 95! time to replace

Is the ride quality alot better when you mount the bags on the link bars verses over the ass end?

Cool, both bagged trucks ive owned had the bags mounted over the ass end. I've never had the opportunity to ride in a truck that had a set up with them mounted on the link bars.

Just curious though what's the reasoning it rides so much better?

consider the pivot point. bag o axle is a 1 to 1 ratio. so every inch of lift the bag goes....therefore the truck does the same amount.
for bag on axle.... if the bag is located halfway on the bar, it is a 2 to 1 ratio. so every inch the bag lifts, the truck lifts 2.
the closer the bag is to the pivot point, the softer the ride.
i wouldnt suggest putting the bag anymore passed halfway though.

it's all about leverage. correct me if i'm wrong.

Re: Project Redo My Old Backhalf

Yea i'd say your build has inspired me more than enough. Just gonna take me longer due to only having a small hand held plasma and hopefully a new MIG machine soon. No bandsaw at my disposal. Do you still have the dimensions for your backhalf kicking around? I mainly need the outside dimensions. I'm going to draw up some different rear bars and bag mounts...cant copy your design entirely.

Oh and yes, it is leverage/ mechanical advantage. The bags aren't working as hard to move the axel the same distance. thats poorly worded but i think it makes some sense of it.

Re: Project Redo My Old Backhalf

I am willing to bet a sleeve bag rides awesome over the rear though... since thats how they were designed to be used.

Mine is a BoB setup, and I can attest like everyone else here, it rides really well

the thing that sucks about snapping that ball joint in public on a bagged truck is everybody probably thinks it's a hack P.O.S. who should be impounded or scrapped. but if they only knew.
