Re: Project Redo My Old Backhalf
the gen1 is badass. Same color I have picked for mine. Same hood (I like it) but I want a little different body mods. Im having a hard time deciding on 18" or 20" - what were those?

Re: Project Redo My Old Backhalf
Oh man...that last pic on page 7 really makes me miss working in a fab shop.
This build has really given me some ideas to re-do the backhalf in my 95! time to replace |

Re: Project Redo My Old Backhalf
Is the ride quality alot better when you mount the bags on the link bars verses over the ass end?

Re: Project Redo My Old Backhalf
for bag on axle.... if the bag is located halfway on the bar, it is a 2 to 1 ratio. so every inch the bag lifts, the truck lifts 2. the closer the bag is to the pivot point, the softer the ride. i wouldnt suggest putting the bag anymore passed halfway though. it's all about leverage. correct me if i'm wrong. |

Re: Project Redo My Old Backhalf
Yea i'd say your build has inspired me more than enough. Just gonna take me longer due to only having a small hand held plasma and hopefully a new MIG machine soon. No bandsaw at my disposal. Do you still have the dimensions for your backhalf kicking around? I mainly need the outside dimensions. I'm going to draw up some different rear bars and bag mounts...cant copy your design entirely.
Oh and yes, it is leverage/ mechanical advantage. The bags aren't working as hard to move the axel the same distance. thats poorly worded but i think it makes some sense of it. |

Re: Project Redo My Old Backhalf
I am willing to bet a sleeve bag rides awesome over the rear though... since thats how they were designed to be used.
Mine is a BoB setup, and I can attest like everyone else here, it rides really well |

Re: Project Redo My Old Backhalf
the thing that sucks about snapping that ball joint in public on a bagged truck is everybody probably thinks it's a hack P.O.S. who should be impounded or scrapped. but if they only knew.

Your awesome build inspired me to "re-do my back half". I ditched the bolt on goodies and started from scratch.
