I'm really leaning towards SFBD. I don't want to feel like i'm in a sardine can. I don't have a tilt wheel either, so i think this might be my best bet.

I've never really looked into bodydropping too indepth, but i'd like to drop my body mounts as much as possible too.

Good call. It will take a little longer but F it you'll be happy with the head room.
And why not change to a tilt Column while it's apart bro?

I'm only 5'10" but i want to be comfy. I guess i could change to a tilt column, but i guess we will see when it comes time, and how it feels. i'll probably just end up doing a whole new floor out of 1x1 skeleton

Re: Project Redo My Old Backhalf

with the killer job you did on your backhalf a sfbd will be easy for you. just run 2x3 or 3x3 under the cab and drop your mounts. check out how i did my front body mounts in my thread or fiction fab builds i got them from him. no modifications to the cab mounts just lowered the frames. it was actually pretty easy hardest part was squaring up the cab to the frame since i moved the cab back 3/4" but thats what tape measures are for. cant wait to see the work you do!!!

your build is awesome man. i'm not sure if i want to run new frame rails or not. just thinking of removing the old mounts, and lowering them as much as possible. i definitely plan on moving the cab back 3/4", i hate that gap.

moving the cab back is the best decision i ever made, not just for the gap front wheels look so much better centered and less tubbing

i think you can get away with lowering the mounts and only have to raise the front part of the floor like the foot area. the seat mount area wont need touched. there is a lot of room between my frame and the floor on the rear half. you will need to either modify your stock fuel tank or the floor. i did the floor and wish i would of done the tank instead

i've honestly never looked how much room there is. but that'll be awesome if i didn't have to touch the rear. but i do have the larger fuel tank, and i'll probably modify the cab, or just buy the smaller tank. i do plan on running all the fuel and brake lines on the side of the frame and cleaning it all up. and do a similar tranny crossmember as yours.

from my research, if you cut the entire floor pan out and refit it, you barely cut it thats my 4 dr plan

Wow this thread is still alive?!

Well currently sitting in Southern California. Getting loaded up tonight to be transferred back to PA, and I'll be flying back tomorrow.

Planning on hitting up whatever shows are nearby then hopefully start the tear down late fall.

She's coming back too. And probably passing on Carlisle. There's a two day show called Dragging at the Drive-in going on the same weekend in Pittsburgh.
