Project- Here we go again
Well 3rd time around building this truck, been one hell of a learning experience, so i'll just do a brief explanation and get to the pics. Had this truck since 06, drove static for years, did BOB 2 years ago, did a custom canti set up on it last year, now this year its getting done right and not touched until i have room for a SFBD.
Its getting a full backhalf, 2x3 1/4 pressure welded and will hold about 8 gallons of air, triangulated 4 link, canti, blazer rear disc brakes, suicide doors, dump bed, thats about it basically, onto the pictures here was the truck last year ![]() cutting the old junk off ![]() and totally seperated ![]() one rail tacked up ![]() backhalf done and tacked onto the truck until its totally done to be pulled back off, pressure tested and welded back on ![]() figuring out where everythings going ![]() lowers done, ready for upper arms and gotta mount the canti arms and build bag mounts, then time to start on getting half couplings welded on the frame and figuring out my air management

Re: Project- Here we go again
picked up a new project bed yesterday, mine got rearended last year and tweaked it up pretty bad, didnt have a bed floor yet so it folded, so now i got a clean, rust free bed with LED tails for 250 that just needs a little work inside
![]() got all my brake stuff, now just gotta make some brackets for them, plumb them in and thats all done ![]() cut off the poly end of my upper arms and welded them back on at 22.5 degrees ![]() welds with my ThermalArc Fabricator 181 ![]() Btw no comments on how much of a mess my garage is lol, its a shitty block building built into a hill side that leaks water like a mutha! We bought a house and are literally moving next week, so I have to get this bitch rolling onto a trailer by the end of the week |

Re: Project- Here we go again
Well its been way to long since i've posted on here, got a lot more done, including buying a house and moving into it, so i'll throw some more pics up of where the truck is out now
front shot of our new house, has a one car currently but were going to try to build a shop out back before winter ![]() bringing her to her new home ![]() joint between backhalf and frame is way overkill now ![]() where i'm probably mounting the cantilever, was going to go up front but i'm running out of room back here quick ![]() my fuel cell will be built to fit back here between everything, only will be about 8 inches deep so plenty of room to drag the shit out of it, and stay away from the boom juice

Re: Project- Here we go again
lol hell yea, pretty funny when buddies come over and i tell them i'm doing a dump bed, its always the same look of confusion of well, you have no tailgate? so how would you dump anything out, and why would you haul stuff that needs dumped. i love it

Re: Project- Here we go again
well got the canti arms mounted, lower bag mounts on, and in the process of building my arms to connect the canti to the axle. Also got incredibly lucky on the fuel cell, i have a 25x18 hole, Broke Dick racing makes a 24x18x10 aluminum fuel cell with a GM sender for 194 shipped to your door, so ordered that whore today, as well as a autoloc keyless unit off ricky, so once this all comes in and i get a few more half couplings welded on my frame to get my valves plumbed, weld on some compressor mounts, and build my rear disc brake brackets...think thats about it for the rear, then back to the suicide doors and still gotta do ball joints, maybe speedway uppers before it comes out too. I'll post more pics when theres more pics worth taking

Re: Project- Here we go again
little update
bag brackets all welded up and gusseted ![]() where the arm will sit while layed out ![]() where my new fuel cell is basically going, the rear valves will be directly behind the bag mount in the open space on a half coupling with a 3/8-close so it will be tucked right to the frame/air tank ![]() my daughter wanted me to draw my truck for her while playing with sidewalk chalk lol ![]() I will be going back out tonight to get the links to the axle done, tomorrow i'll be welding the rest of the half couplings on for my valves and hopefully starting plumbing and wiring so i can tear it all back apart to paint it |

just the way i was filling the gap, i weld high pressure natural gas and oil vessels for a living so my welds don't concern me to much

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ran out of welding wire of course tonight, but got the compressors basically wired, all the wiring is seperated and sorted and ready to run down the frame, have to plumb the other 3 valves and mount my fuel pump, then its run fuel lines and brake and thats about it |
