[Project] 2000 3.2TL
Yep, got another TL in for some air. This one however is using these japanese Canovers which are pretty much cylinders on steriods. The height can be adjusted with a spanner wrench and theres a 6-way adjustable valve up top, like coilovers. But they run off air and have expansion tanks to ride nice. Im putting 6gal of air and 2 comps in the truck, along with 1/2" ART valves.
![]() The car has a system in it and every damn inch of steel is covered in Dynamat so I have to scrape a lot of it off to weld mounting hardware to the floor. ![]() As you may have noticed from the first pic, the car also has a Lexus 300 front end molded into the fenders and hood. Heres a closer pic and a pic of the other TL-S I did with a stock front end (click to make it bigger).. ![]() Last edited by AVTekk : 10-05-2004 at 04:55 PM. |

Re: [Project] 2000 3.2TL
Ya so Ive been working on the TL a bit. Heres the mounting bracket I made for the tanks. This got welded to the floor then each tank bolts to the side of it. Itll be painted the same color as the body.
![]() Heres a dual compressor tray I made for the trunk corner, Ill prolly weld it tot he floor as well. I still have to make a battery tray for the other corner. ![]() Pics of some stuff bolted down. The small aluminum tanks are 'expansion tanks' or accumulators for the cans. ![]() ![]() Heres the Canovers themselves. You can see they are pretty stout units, and the heights are adjustable with a spanner wrench, altho theyll be set as low as possible heh. Compressed: ![]() Extended, you can see the front one, the whole assembly is the cylinder, not just a rod and diaphram: ![]() Close up of valving nut. Its got 6 position adjustment, like coilovers. ![]() Last edited by AVTekk : 10-05-2004 at 04:57 PM. |

Re: [Project] 2000 3.2TL
Heres a couple more pics. I made this tray for the battery. The back piece is cut to fit the 'six pack' style batteries out of some angle iron, and the hold down is a standard GM style.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Heres some shots of the trunk coming together. The stock panels are gray and Im changing them all out to black, and shaving whatever holes were left. You cant see it now but behind the battery was a big hole for the jack. ![]() ![]() Last edited by AVTekk : 10-05-2004 at 04:59 PM. |

Its not low enough for me but the car would need some serious fabricating to get it lower. The spindles hit the cans and the control arms hit the tower..all kind of shit

Re: [Project] 2000 3.2TL
Thanks fellas..heres the rest of the install.
The Canovers bolted into the towers ok, but the channel on the fronts did not fit the bolt position on the fork, so I had to machine that out. And when you air it out, the spindle hits the side of the can, so I dunno if were going to do anything with that, but thats a manufacturers problem. The rears were ok but I had to add 3 shims to the lower mounts on each side. Front accumulator install: ![]() ![]() Made a block off plate for the inner fender where the filter sits, because well, its ugly in there heh: ![]() ![]() Wired in a breaker and 200amp isolator for the 2nd battery. All the shit on the first battery is not from me, cuz I know, its ugly.. ![]() Trunk install, the blue LEDs on top of the battery is a built-in volt meter on the poss terminal.. ![]() ![]() ![]() Switch install with tank gauge. Those doors fold up to cover them when not in use.. ![]() |
