Re: Oil for EDC

drain the oil that is in it now, and use 30weight NON detergent

Re: Oil for EDC

it's a good idea to drain the remaining oil you don't know how long it's been in there... and commonly a 30w non-detergent oil is used.

red beat me to it again...

Re: Oil for EDC

These guys are all correct,. I had trouble finding a non-detergent oil locally for mine, found it in AutoZone brand, and stuck with that. When I first got it, it used up a good amount of oil, but after it got broken in, in did much better, and boy, that water/oil separator, filled up alot quicker, and with nastier $hit, than a standard electric compressor.

Re: Oil for EDC

YEah that Kilby site is good info, they also sell a dipstick for the Yorks that works well.

As far as oil I have used about everything, but have been happy with Lucas Oil90? weight, passes less quickly.

Re: Oil for EDC

i used to use the "pag" oil for the first 3 months until i realized how much went through the compressor, (and a lack of york 210 info back a fe years ago), now when ever i do an oil change in my truck, i re-use that oil for refills in the compressor. been using 10-40 for 4 years now, no problems

Re: Oil for EDC

look in the helpful bag forum thread that is stickied at the top. there are two good York threads. The diagrams have some very good info, so read those over if you have any questions. Then read through each whole thread in full. Some will be useless chit chat, but there will be some good info and links later one (mostly about venting the crankcase).

oh and it's 14oz of oil.

Re: Oil for EDC

lol. I don't have 2 any more because of the body drop. I had to drop the sanden because the fittings would have gone through the hood.

I miss the 15 second fill times.
