Re: notch pic request

Might find a couple in my thread. We used a plum-bob to center my notches in my truck. If I had to do it over though, I would defiantly use a box tubing notch.

Re: notch pic request

most people just leave the leaf springs in, center the notch to the axle, get the notch in and then take out the leafs. this way your axle will be centered. it's hard to look at a pic and center your notch based off of that.

do what geat said. usually the best way to do it.

Re: notch pic request

normally that 5/8" diameter, or whatever size it is, hole thats right above the axle.. the front edge towards the cab is in line with the axle. Also remember depending on lengths of the link bars and angles the bars sit at the setups ride height, the rearend is going to pull forward when laidout so make sure the axle wont hit the front of the notch before the truck is on the ground completely.

dont know if it will help any but heres the before and after cutting. The line on the notch and frame line up.

Re: notch pic request

they might be a little i didnt line them up with that hole 98layin was talkin about i just measured from the rear rails to make sure they were even. but it lays fine, the wheel placement is more about the link kit install and adjustment

Re: notch pic request

Theres no such thing as having a notch perfectly centered because the rearend moves on an arc, therefore changing its position in the notch constantly. I always put the notch in line with the large dia hole in the frame as mentioned above, or up to 1/4" forward for a 3link since they tend to have short bars that can pull the axle forward a bit. I always center the notch at ride height because I always center my bag mounts up at ride height. If you center the bag mounts over the axle when layed out, the bag will always be off center when its actually holding the truck up (driving).

lows10blazer's notch is def forward, a proper notch will land on top of the old bumpstop mounts and they need to be ground flat.

Re: notch pic request

mine i posted above is centered on the axle at a 4" ride height. When the truck is laidout the axle will be about 3/4" further forward in the notch. As long as you account for the arch in the axle movement you will be fine.

thanks guys.

when i mentioned being centered i ment having the axle centered in the notch when layed out.
