So I'm not new to the scene at all but I'm at a loss with my 96. I built a sonoma that was bodied on 20's so automatically I had to cut the firewall, but I don't want to go that crazy with my s10 I figured 19's would tuck with ease without being bodied. Nope. What have you guys had to do with your 20's to make them lay frame ? Can't imagine needing to cut into my firewall to tuck 19's that seams nuts. Any help would be appreciated thanks guys.
You definitely have to cut the fire wall to lay frame on 20"s. I would be almost certain on 19"s as well. Relocate all of the crap on you inner fenders, smaller booster, etc... Pretty sure you are going have all the hassle of 20"s plus tires for 19"s are more $.
Read up on the builds. There are at least 100 trucks on here laying frame on 20"s. use that search button, it's a good deal of work to do it right. Not difficult, just a lot of little steps you don't realize until you get started.
That's why this forum exists, though. Just s10 guys helping s10 guys.
This is how I believe it should be done. Had to do some extra work but it will definitely pay off. Turns out my ball joints are also a factor in my notability to lay out completely but that's an easy fix. Thanks for the help guys! Definitely felt better after talking it up with you guys first.
i laid frame on 20s with out tubbing firewall u will have to loose ac or mod blower box adn notch for tie rod ends or get notchless tie rods i laid hard on 20s and didnt touch firewall
Pics or it didn't happen. And like I said I'm not new to any of this. It's just this will be my first non body dropped truck so wasn't sure what to look forward to. I already have plans on modifying my blower box and already have the material to notch for tierods. This ain't my first rodeo lol
I was gonna reccomend what patawick said about the bfh... Mine was laid on some 20s with no cutting before i got it, rubs harness and will bust the heater box, im running steelies though so im no help...
cuts r us will clear any wheel size just remeber that, lol but ive never done it myself im bodied and i still have to cut mine, did the bd with steelies and now have gone to 18s so this next two months are goin to be cuts, cuts, and more cuts on mine lol
