Re: Most Hacked Shit Ever Seen 2009 Thread!!

In the simplest of terms, a panhard bar is located perpendicular to the frame, a track bar is diagonal to the frame. They both hold the axle laterally but the track bar doesnt pull the rear side to side throughout travel.

Re: Most Hacked Shit Ever Seen 2009 Thread!!

x-2
a panhard bar mounts to from one side of the axle and the opposite side of the frame, limiting the lift and pulling as it lifts.
traction bar is mounted to the link bars, diagonally from front of bar "1" diagonally back to rear of bar "2" and not to the frame at all. the only limit of lift is the design of the set-up, no pulling of the rear end at all.

So we're driving around last night in my Buddy's Lexus, stopped at Sev for some chips and such, its kind of hidden and you can imagine our excitment when we say this parked in the parking lot... with quality body work, it just needed to be photographed.

Front bumper looks like it's from a Civic

http://www.s10forum.com/forum/attach...d=1256923 905

Side Skirts that only reach to the end of the cab... that's totally custom

And a third pic for good measure. Yes, he is hauling that U-Haul...

I dont know whats scarier about those arms, the fact that stuff like that is on the road or the fact that there are people out there dumb enough to think that is ok to do.

Some of this stuff really is just out there, like who honestly thinks that was a good idea. Spindles arent even that much now...

Actually that way of doing it is fine if it was gusseted properly. instead of dehumping he was doing essentially what tubular arms do and move the instant center up 2 inches. He was not doing it to eliminate the cost of spindles

he didnt move the instant center up "2 inches"

spindle/hub assembly up "2 inches"

by doing this he lowered the tuck "2 inches"

Re: Most Hacked Shit Ever Seen 2009 Thread!!

Tubular arms dont do anything to the geometry, they are just shaped differently to clear the frame and lay the truck out. What is done there is basically the same thing, all the suspension points are the same, theres just more clearance now.

tubular arms do have a bend that moves the spindle higher.

No, they dont move anything higher, they simply have clearance built into them so that the spindle can move higher, theres a difference. If you wanted to, you could install tubular arms and set the truck at stock height and it would have all the geometry characteristics of a stock truck. Or you could set it at a dropped height with stock and tubular arms and youd have different characteristics (than stock) but they would be the same between the two arms.

It looks like ass, and is not a good idea any way you look at it.

There defending the approach not his execution of it.. If done properly theres nothing wrong with moving the ball joint up.
