Re: Mono Leaf Pictures

These pics are of my last truck I mono-leafed with a 3" block, I had a 4" block in it in the beginning,. but when it was down the driveshaft rubbed the gas tank crossmember HARD. So I went with a 3" block, with this it would only rub when the front was locked up and the rear was aired out. this setup did me fine, never gave me any trouble other than a little rub when sitting as described above. Setup consisted of the 3" block, mono-leaf, s-10 notch, Gen 2 bridge kit with Slam bags on 18" wheels. pic is laid out, circled how close driveshaft was to gas tank crossmember laid out. It sat low, but did not lay frame, however probably could have with the 4" block and a new x-member or notching the stock one.

if you don't see the point, then don't do it. But their's no point in expressing a worthless opinion. I'm pretty sure he's already made his decision on whether or not he's going to do it. So either help him out or continue to the next thread were your post may be helpful and not quite as repetitive.

I dont understand how you can sit on your soapbox over there and contiually tell this kid what to do and what not to do when you are not even bagged and have no experience in bagging a truck. this site is full of keyboard commandos like you. let the guy do what he wants, its obviously a proven set up. it works!!!!! period!!!!! whether the S-10 forum thinks its right or not is totally irrelivant here. you have NO experiance with the set up so how can you talk about it? I drive my truck daily with a monoleaf and before that Brian(orangesonoma) drove it for years with the same exact spring.

Re: Mono Leaf Pictures

wow, didn't even notice the hydraulic lines... thats some pricey stuff for airline. haha, but you don't really have to worry about any leaks on compressions/ptc's

but yeah, goodiemob - I've bagged a BUNCH of trucks so I'd like to think i have a pretty valid opinion on this. Like i said... read more, post less. You'll learn alot... when you have experience, your opinion will be viewed much more helpfull.

Re: Mono Leaf Pictures

Thats A Really nice setup above....To use the hydraulic lines did he have to use any type of fittings to convert it over I wonder. I dont know to much about the hydralic lines. Thats sick though, Very clean good job courier! Yea Thanks guys for the input and tips I do appreciate it...Your so right Blackesdime Read more post less....Ive gone days of just reading and not posting one time just going though every usefull thread and try and get some knowledge out of them....I strongly believe in Build not buy, and me not previously having any fabricating skills this site and some other forums can help tremindesly if you just take the time to read and learn from it...I know lots of members are againt mono leaf but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta to for the time being you know. You just gotta know who is talking out of there ass and who know what there talking about. And im not saying you dont know anything goodiemob but dont try and give advise on a subject your not experienced in..I do however appreciate the input but its nothing i havent heard before about monoleafing.

well unfortunately built not bought BS is another problem all on its own, reading a forum will not teach you how to weld or fabricate. and learning how to weld while installing a bridge in your truck frame is not a good idea either.

Please learn how to weld before attempting to bag your truck, or just pay someone to do it, at least the welding. I hate seeing trucks where people learn how to do it along the way while reading a forum and looking at project threads. Remeber you are gonna be driving on public roadways with other people, endangering lives cause you want to be "built not bought" is not cool.

i much rather have a truck built by me than paying someone, but i cant weld and when i bagged the rear of the truck, i did everything except the welding, i had my dad weld it all up for me, saved me tons, he wouldnt let me touch it with a welder since it was going to be driving on the roads and its a big safety hazard, so he did it. Leave the welding to a professional or someone who has a lot of experience, cuz your life is on the line while driving as well as other motorists

exactly!!! thank you i would rather build it myself too, fortunately i am a skilled welder and a certified auto mechanic, over 16 years in each field so me doing it myself is fine.

its just when you go to shows and pics of your truck end up in the hacked rides thread with drag and destroy stickers all over cause you want to build it yourself is just ignorant and selfish.

Re: Mono Leaf Pictures

Save you pennies and buy a link instead of temporarily mono leafing it. I went throught this same ordeal and actually posted a simaliar thread and and some members talked me out of it. I feel you pain about the price of a link, i actually saved my money from the begining of last school year (high school) till this past spring to bag my truck while only making 5 bucks an hour cash and getting money from all my family durring cristmass to bag my truck.

I Know how to weld so thats not a concern im worried about.. I def feel you though I wouldnt want to endanger anybody else on the road at all...As long As you take your time check everything multiple time before moving on and simply do it right you'll be good.

Re: Mono Leaf Pictures

i still have dearched mono leafs on mine while im building it, mine lays on 18s, and i have a few buddies' layin on 20s. mine will lay on a 20 also, and im goin 22s, i havent tried my 28" tires yet, but im on 6 inch dearched leafs. but as stated, its only temporary. my buddy snapped one of his goin down the highway about 55 mph. mono leafs CAN be dangerous, not sayin they always break, but its always a possibility.

blowing a line or bag, even draggin is all dangerous not much more then running mono so if you take a chance in other areas mono for a little bit is no different just like when people argue bout not running shocks and how it effects braking..if your scared stick to stock...

i wouldn't compare that to shocks... i've LITERALLY seen people's wheels come off the ground 3"+ from not having shocks in the rear. If you don't think thats unsafe, then YOU should stick to stock.

Re: Mono Leaf Pictures

ive actually had 3 trucks with monos, never had a problem. and without shocks, its bouncy as hell, but i like it. lol. but ive also had the 3 link on one, and it rode pretty smooth, for just havin bags, no shocks.
