Re: LSOH bump steer/steering kit group buy, AGAIN!!!

Sorry of the lack up updates guys.

So far we are sitting at 10 kits, but this is a couple days old so it might be slightly higher now:

1. Randy Martin M minitrucker@hotmail.com
2. Kyle Wallmueller L kwallmueller@hotmail.com
3. Justin Reed L j_reed02@yahoo.com
4. Timothy Turner XL sped56737@yahoo.com
5. Michael Cover L xxcov3rxx@yahoo.com
6. James Duffy M jmdone@hotmail.com
7. Trevis Street XL tstreet408@gmail.com
8. Carl Kolling 2X jdmfit@gmail.com
9. Matt Gleisner L MG_customs@yahoo.com
10. Matthew Hilt XL mhilt13@gmail.com

Eric also mentioned the idea of powder coating these kits, either gloss black or a textured black. We would all need to come to a group decision on the finish. It would be an additional 35-45 dollars if you were interested, and your kit would come ready to instal, assembled with thread locker and everything.

Re: LSOH bump steer/steering kit group buy, AGAIN!!!

For powder coat,

We are doing black, it's the choice between gloss and the textured finish that we need to choose. We are keeping the powdercoating simple for everyone with one color.

As far as the kit count currently. The website link has only been up for a couple of days. Some people get paid bi-weekly. And there also is almost a complete 2 weeks still before only the deposit needs to be in.

Probably a bit late for me to be asking, lol... but any word from the previous group buy guys as to if this will work with the SD sway bar link and ZQ8 Sway bar? I didn't know if it would interfere at all. I doubt it would, since the outer portion of the tie-rod is moved downward considerably.

I supose we should get a list going of people who do want powder coating done to their kits.

So throw up your actual name so we can get it added to the list on our end.

Re: LSOH bump steer/steering kit group buy, AGAIN!!!

Just snapped a pic of the bolt on the centerlink of my truck this morning before tightening it. This is with maybe one full week of driving 40 miles a day on it (200-250ish miles). I have anti-seize and not Loc-tite on the bolt so that will need to get changed, but I honestly don't know that Loc-tite alone will do the trick. I really think there needs to be a lock washer thrown in there, or maybe even some flat spots on the shaft and a custom locking washer like SD does on their cross shafts. I really do not like that this is coming out like this so quickly

Re: LSOH bump steer/steering kit group buy, AGAIN!!!

Brent,

The fact that you are running a thread lubricant over a locker is drastically changing the function of how well the bolt holds the center link on the stud. Using a thread locker will provide a lot more torque strength then you might imagine.

Also, are your bushings pressed together all the way? The bolt surface should be mating against the stud and not the bushing. If it is mating only against the bushing then no matter what sort of locking device you put on it, the bolt will turn out. The paint on the center link could be changing the tolerances that are machined on the kit to where the bushings are spread wider then Eric design. What is the black thing between the bushing and washer?

Getting word on Eric about this issue. He has said out of the 53 kits sold to date, he has never ran across this problem with any of them when thread locker was applied to the appropriate fasteners. He is including assembly instructions and thread locker with each kit to promote the idea of its importance in the use of the kit. To the point where he is considering him assembling every kit that leaves the door now, whether it is coated or not.

Maybe I can get Eric in here to help express the issue. He doesn't want anyone to feel unsafe running his products on their truck.

Re: LSOH bump steer/steering kit group buy, AGAIN!!!

Jordan,

The bushings are pressed together all the way and I masked off the entire faces and insides of the tube when I painted, so the paint is not adding any tolerance to the length of the tube and pushing the bushings out. The 'black thing' between the bushing and the washer is a gap lol

I will take it apart tonight and put some Loc-tite on it and crank it down, but will continue to monitor it. I have noticed though that even when using the properly sized allen wrench the socket in the bolts are starting to distort their shape. So I may pick up some hex bolts to replace them so it's easier to torque them down.

Re: LSOH bump steer/steering kit group buy, AGAIN!!!

That's awesome! Seeing that many other kits out there in production and soon to be on the road makes me very happy!

In other news, mainly for my own peace of mind, I fixed my issues by installing new bolts on the center link (I used flange head bolts because the hex sockets were distorting on the provided bolts). I also threw in some lock washers and a good dose of Loc-Tite so I shouldn't have any problems from here on out

Ok, my question is this...

I see 45 center link rods in your pics. You only have 14 committed people so far. Any chance you guys are looking at extending the date to try and get more guys in before ending the group buy? Or is Eric perfectly fine with making 45 kits and having 30 of them sit on the shelf for who knows how long?
