gas gauge
Prolly hear this a lot on here but I need quick help... my gas gauge flops around as I'm driving but every once in a while it seems like it's working but 99% of the time it's on empty or full... What should I troubleshoot or what could it be?

Re: gas gauge
Usually it's a bad level sensor in the fuel tank. Common problem on newer GM vehicles. You can do one of two options. Get a new one (I think they solder onto the fuel pump though), or replace the entire fuel pump.

Re: gas gauge
Actually, ive never heard a thing about the fuel level sensor in the tank. However, gm did a pseudo-recall on their harness that connects to the fuel pump, on every truck/van vehicle, because of bad pins in the connectors at the pump. Everyone from Advance Auto Parts to the GM Dealer will do everything but force you to purchase the harness splice when you purchase a fuel pump. My guess is you have had it unplugged and now are having issues. You would be amazed how many people have this problem. Change out the harness to the pump before you change the pump itself and see if it doesnt make a world of difference.
oh, and wrong section |

Re: gas gauge
ya wrong section. i had a big problem with mine. would jump all over hell. if you search in the 262 section i have a video posted of mine where it is jumping back and forth and all over the place. when i went to bag my truck, we broke one of the fittings on top the fuel pump. had to replace. grabbed one off of ebay for cheap and it works perfect. gas gauge works and i can tell how much gas i have now. it's really just the sending unit but our sending unit and fuel pump are all one piece.

Re: gas gauge
I had the same problem with the plug on the fuel pump. I took the plug completely apart and bent the little springs up a little so it had a tighter fit on the fuel pump prongs and it worked perfect after that.

Re: gas gauge
had that problem. was the sending unit and if you replace it you have to replace the whole fuel pump.
