Re: drug through gas tank
it's only a matter of time before someone goes out dragging with a leaking dragged out tank and catches on fire.
i raised my tank up with the SD 3 link kit. they didn't include any info that you still need to raise the front of the gas tank up. get your new tank mounted up as high as possible in the front and the rear. |

Re: drug through gas tank
since his gas tank is draggin the ground i really doubt the strength of that patch should be any concern. Trust me that patch is safe. My nova has had one for years, and ive never had any problems. I think the issue is the tank making sparks, not the method of patch or if he "should go buy another"

Re: drug through gas tank
sorry but my father owns a mechanic shop that i work at and i have seen way to many cobbled up fixes cuz people are cheap......one customer has this same issue....hole in the tank and so he went home and repaired it himself. well it didnt hold for more than 2 days and when it started leaking it was in walmart parking lot.....some dude walking by flicked his cigarette and ka-boom! by by car.

Re: drug through gas tank
well some people dont know how to change a flat tire either. If applied correctly that shit will last a long time. As ive stated ive had some on a car for over 5 years, You cant just slap in on over the rust and road grime, you need to drain your tank and clean the area, like the directions said. Five years ago a tank for a 76 nova was about 300 or so dollars with shipping, or 2 dollars for the tank repair, i think i got teh better deal

Re: drug through gas tank
well. after a week, its leaking again, pretty good drip too, have it on jack stands in the shop catching whatever leaks, think i might have drug another hole in it
i was riding lower than i thought in a parking lot, and i turned into a parking lane and the frame hit the ground, so that might have done it, and i have a show to go to next week too, looks like im ordering a cell sooner than i thought |

Re: drug through gas tank
good deal. fuel leaks are not something to cheaply patch. its lives that ur dealing with there. some soccer mom could ass end u and it blows up and burns both cars to the ground and maybe cost a mother or her kids there lives. that isnt something that i would want to have on my chest for the rest of my life.

Re: drug through gas tank
My 03 has a plastic tank, I fixed it with 2 part epoxy. But I layered on a coat, added a sheet of fiberglass weave and added more epoxy over that. I repeated that two more times and so far so good. *knocks on wood* The next time I have my bed off I will replace the tank, unless the need arises first.
