One of the biggest advantages is that you don't have to run more line that can leak!! Another advantage is you can get 5 gauges in the space of 1.5 mechanical's.

Re: Are digital gauges worth it?

If you don't have a tank sender, and just 4 bags, it will display all 4 bags constantly, but if you have a tank sender as well... it will flash between the 4 bags, and the tank. Its not like one is 'better' than the other, because they both do the same thing as the next, but they do add some 'fashion' to the truck or car, and if you got the money, go for it.

Re: Are digital gauges worth it?

Yea, you prolly have the rectangular one....I think the round gauge does it differently, because of the area constraints

Re: Are digital gauges worth it?

I noticed this thread has no pictures or specs of these gauges, and yet, it's included in the helpful bag forum links.

Maybe this will help others when they come to read up on digital gauges.

->Odyssey Series I, Quad Air Pressure Monitor<-

From Dakota Digital

Quoted from website:
"The ODY-19-4 Quad Air Pressure gauge can monitor and simultaneously display the front and rear pressure on front/ rear or four wheel independent air ride systems to display each air bag for proper pressure. The ODY-19-4 also displays the air tank pressure with other readings.
Dakota Digital instruments offer a high brightness, vacuum fluorescent display for excellent daytime visibility and a lifetime of trouble free use. Dakota Digital instruments are fully backed by a Limited 24-month Warranty against manufacturer defects and provide the accuracy and performance you've come to expect from Dakota Digital!

  • User adjustable high and low warning points can trigger a external light or buzzer. (not included)
  • Night dimming.
Range:
Requires use of specific sender for desired range. 0-150 or 0-400 psi. When monitoring tank pressure, the same type (0-150, or 0-400psi) of sensor must be used.
A single sensor will be required for each pressure reading. For example, a full independent (front/back/side to side) air system would require 4 sensors (1 for each airbag). A fifth sensor can be added to monitor the air tank pressure if desired, the tank sensor must be the same type (0-150 or 0-400psi) as the others.
Resolution:
1 psi for 0- 150 psi range/ 2 psi for 0- 400 psi range.

  • Choice of either Blue, Green or *Teal display.
  • Choice of either Satin, Black or **Chrome bezel.
  • Machined aluminum bezel and housing."
(as of Aug. 31st, 2005. Site and product subject to change)

I especially like the feature described HERE about the feature that enables you to have your truck automatically air up to a preset height upon starting the vehicle. That would be sweet as hell doubled up with a remote start. Have your truck start up and air up on it's own while you watch from inside your house.

Re: Are digital gauges worth it?

i don't like how the #'s move so fast when you drive because of the pressure changes and bumps

analog gauges are just easier to rear when driving i believe, one needle just moving a little rather than some numbers moving extremely fast

kinda like a digital tach, as you rev it up the damn #'s just blend together and you can't read it

Re: Are digital gauges worth it?

they SUCK, they are off as much as 18psi all the time, you never know what height you are really at, if you have a bad ground anywhere they screw up, I had them, sold them, they SUCK. I went back to analog because with analog I never have to wonder what psi I am really at.

I have digital guages. . . the ART controll box but only the sending unit are hooked up, i have my valves hooked up to a switch box. the guages look nice, that's all i can say. also...mine dont have the quickest response, but it's ok.

Re: Are digital gauges worth it?

I hate them. to jumpy.

A couple times I was reading really high pressure so I went to drop and ended up hitting the ground because the presure was actualy way lower than what they were reading.

After 18 months only one sending unit works anyway.

I agree. Mine seem like they take a couple minutes after starting the truck to get to their "true" PSI. Don't know why, but that is how it seems. Also, like you said, the guage will read a certain PSI and then you go to hit the switch lightly, where it should only drop 4PSI or so if the switch is hit right, but, then you see it drops 12PSI.

On the other hand, there is less chance of leaks and the gauge fits right in my left air vent.

Re: Are digital gauges worth it?

like i say before, gauges are a nice reference but i dunno...i HAVE to drive by the feel of the truck, if its too low, lil air, too bumpy, lil less....i just use something static to tell me what my height should be. For example, side view mirror in relation to the bedrail is a good one for me
