airshock leak
so i have airshocks on the rear of my truck and like some suggested, i threw some 1/2" dot line over the fitting and cranked her down with a hose clamp. tried to air her up and air just came right out that spot.
took it all apart and threw some 567 locktite and it held air. but now it has a very small leak. how do i fix, more locktite? i thought about trying to get a fitting for it but couldn't really find one that would fit from searching on here, and don't want to cut the top of the fitting on the shock. has one more leak i have to fix at the lift valve (where the fitting comes out of it), but both shocks are leaking where the line goes on and it's driving me insane. hate leaks! this will drain the shocks during lunch. lol very annoying. gets some damn good lift and the ride really isn't too bad (lol think i got used to a crappier ride). i'll post pics when sprint starts working again. ideas on this leak issue? |

Re: airshock leak
I dunno if you've posted pics of anything b/c of the server at work, but could you braze something onto the inlet?

Re: airshock leak
If you can get some good contact and prep the surface, JB weld might be an option. |

Re: airshock leak
Haven't seen them online anywhere, but I know there is a parts place around here that actually has fittings that will fit on the airshocks and come out to a 3/8" barb fitting or PTC fitting, so I do know they exist somewhere at least, lol. Had a buddy that ran them that way for a couple years hooked up to a 3/8" block valve... Not really sure about the 1/2" line clamped down on the fitting tho... I'd say best bet would be to either find a way to get one of those fittings, or run the 1/8" line to your valves.

Re: airshock leak
like i said i really don't want to cut them cause once i get my bags on these are going to the g/f's taco. then they will be using the 1/8" line again i'm sure. |

Re: airshock leak
i say use 1/8 inch line, or a fitting , a hose clamp isnt going to hold 100psi ever

Re: airshock leak
i believe the fitting on the air shocks is a 1/4 flare.

Re: airshock leak
why dont you just find a 1/2" to 1/4" or 1/2" to 1/8" reducer (which ever it is...)

Re: airshock leak
from what i have read on here, a normal 1/4 fitting will not work because of the extra ring on top of the airshock fitting.

Re: airshock leak
there is a difference between at 1/4 pipe and 1/4 flare fitting. |

Re: airshock leak
This is the place we got them from, the Village Ave. location. If you wanna try giving them a call and see about ordering or part numbers or anything. Just tell them you are looking for a fitting that can connect directly to an air-shock to plumb the shocks to your valves - these guys are surprisingly knowledgeable and willing to help with the air-ride setups around here, and they even have a toll-free number to call! http://www.hamptonrubber.com/ |
