test drop?

alright as some may know, i have an 01 2 door blazer with 255/30/22 tires. its already lowered 2/3 but i want another 3" up front and 2 in the back. im not worried about the back being fine to drive, but i am about the front.

my dad said he's heard of something that will clamp down the springs to lower it.....anyone heard of em or know where to get them?

im not wanting this as a permanent drop, just a test to see if i can still turn comfortably with the drop or not.

any help is appreciated
thanks
steven

Re: test drop?

Are you thinking of spring compressors? I think those are just for making spring installation easier and safer. I would not drive with those.

Re: test drop?

Yeah they are mode to compress the spring to remove and install easier. They are kinda bulky, i'm not sure you could even put it all back together with them on the springs.

You could measure you frame height from the ground, then put blocks under the frame for the 3" drop you want and remove your springs. It will rest on the blocks. Then you could test your steering to see how everything cleans. Sounds like a paint in the ass, but should work.

Re: test drop?

Oh we had some bigger ones at school, they were meant for coil springs, where the smaller set we had were for stuff like coil overs on smaller cars.

Re: test drop?

You would be changing your spring rates when you do that. You may even end up with differrent rates on each side and other inconsistantcies. If you just want to see what the stance would look like, then throw some on there just for that, then measure the heights and get then proper coils and an alignment that should be correct and last. Just my 2 cents.
