suggested tires size for 20's

looking at getting some boss 335's 20 inch and i think there 9 inch's wide. truck is dropped 3 in the front w/ djm 3 inch springs. back is 4 inch djm blocks. might trade out for 3 inch leaf springs and 1 inch block. but anyways what would yall suggest for tires on those 20's. not lookin for any rubber bands but not so much tire itll rub on everycorner. if possible i would like for them not to rub at all. is that possible? and what size tires? maybe spacers too?? thanks for the help in advance guys

Re: suggested tires size for 20's

I have a 5/5 drop on my 92 blazer.

Front is 20x8.5 255/35/20 rear is 20x10 275/40/20.

If I was going 3/4 I would do 245/45/20.

Or you can go 245/45 front and 275/40 rear if you want a wider rear tire. Both will have the same sidewall as well as height.

255/35 isn't enough tire for a 3" drop imo.. I run that size with a 5" drop.

Re: suggested tires size for 20's

I had 245/35-20 on the front of mine with a 3" drop and that was with 8.5" rims that's about the skinniest tire that would fit it. If your going with a 9" rims your gonna have to go with 255 or 265. You also want to run about a 4"- 4 1/2" backspacing

Re: suggested tires size for 20's

you guys do realize its a lowered 2wd truck not a lifted truck, that and a 255 35 20 is already the same height as stock a wheel and tire combo...

Either way, a 255 35 20 is about the best fitting size for these trucks without alot of rubbing problems.

These are 245 35 20's on 8.5" wide rims.

Re: suggested tires size for 20's

On a static truck that's only getting lowered 3/4 personally I'd like to see less wheel gap then a 255/35 would offer and he said he wants the most tire he can get.

done this on numerous trucks over the years

the fronts are 20x8.5
255 35 20 on a 3/4 drop
take out the bolts on the top of both fenders and pass side you will see how fender bubbles down on back of fenderwell. Pound that in flat with a mallet and you will be good to go and just on big dips will hit top of fenderwells but nothing to worry about as long as you remove those bolts

any other questions feel free to call me 24/7 415 519 2432 or email me tony@tbssowners.com

i said that because people are recommending he install a 29" tall tire on a lowered truck... thats 2" taller then stock. not to mention would look retarded with a 27" tall front tire.

Re: suggested tires size for 20's

Just so we all know the factory 2wd s- series is a 205/75-15 and a 235/55-16 which are both right at 26" tall depending on the brand. So a 245/35-20 is going to be about the closest to stock. If you want a little more sidewall go with a 245/40-20 that will put you at about 27". If you want a little more width go with a 255/35-20 (which is right at 27" tall and 98layinframe said that's the best size even though he said 27" tires look retarded on the front), 255/30-20, 265/30-20, or a 265/25-20. None of these will be much taller than 27" they just get wider. If anything just listen to norcal ss. Sounds like he knows what he's talking about.

thanks for the props but kinda off on your tire sizes
235 55 16 are 26.1
205 75 15 are 27.1 tall (this is why gm says zq8 is 1.5 lower the tires are 1 inch lower and the drop is only 1/2 inch on the springs)
255 35 20 are 27 inches tall about so pretty much same height as stock

with a 3 inch drop 245 35 20 would be good to go.

225/35-20 26.2"
245/35-20 26.75"
255/35-20 27.03"
265/35-20 27.3"
275/35-20 27.58"
315/35-20 28.68"

245/40-20 27.72"
255/40-20 28.03"

no reread it.. and since it didnt come across well enough.. i ment it would look retarded with 27" fronts and 29" rear tires. Id try to stick with a tire thats alot closer in height front to rear if it were my truck.
