Moog vs. Power Performance Ball Joints

Which is better and why should I buy. (are the power performance ball joints 2 SuperTravel Upper Ball Joints and FREE Lower Ball Joints made for bagged trucks or will they still work on my 4" drop of 2" spindles and 2" springs?

They will still work. They are just designed so that you don't have to pie cut your uppers. If you feel like spending the money I say go for it.

Re: Moog vs. Power Performance Ball Joints

well.... the power performance are actually cheaper than the moog so what I'm asking is which is better. The moog are 125 for the set but I have a 20 coupon. The PP are $99 for the set...so about the same price. Which is better for my application and which would you choose and why?

Re: Moog vs. Power Performance Ball Joints

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I know it's hard to believe, but our product is substantially better than the competition AND it usually costs less, too. With us, you're buying direct - with the other guy, you're often going through 2 or 3 levels of middle men before it gets to you. And the "other" manufacturer has race teams to sponsor, huge national advertising campaigns, and a fleet of private jets to pay for. Instead, we put all the money into the best product possible!

In general, you'll find that the competition uses cheaper steel - we use SAE4130 for the ball studs and SAE1045 for the housings. The housing are forged, whereas a lot of the "other" brands out there still use a flimsy, two-piece stamped housing.

Our stud pullout rating is between 60-100% stronger - meaning it takes almost twice the force to rip our ball stud out of the housing. And our studs have around 13 degrees less deflection in Stud Impact Testing (we screw the ball stud into a wall and slam a 110 lb sled into it, then measure how far the stud bends).

These numbers are for our stock-type ball joints. The numbers are considerably higher for the SuperTravels because we went a little overkill in the 2 years it took to develop and test them

If you don't mind me asking in this thread Zack, will the stock-type ball joints affect ride quality in any way? $99 for a set of ball joints is pretty cheap!

I think there's some confusion here. The $99 deal is for SuperTravel uppers and our regular Power Performance lowers.

Our stock-type ball joints are around $80 for the uppers and lowers total. They will not affect ride quality at all.
