Re: how much?
That's what machining is and it's done to perfection, the wheels you have now been machined.

Re: how much?
Take this crude drawing I made. On the left is a stock height vehicle, notice how far the tire is from the inner fender, but notice that the back sides of the tire are closer to the inner fender than the front sides, and when you turn they'll be even closer.
Now notice pic #2 the vehicle has been dropped and the tires got wider, because the wheel is in the same spot, but the inner fender came down closer to the ground so now the same spots on the fender that were by the top of the tire are now by the middle of it. Notice how the back sides of the tire are a lot closer to the inner fender than the fronts, and the same applies they'll get closer when you turn. Do you understand now? Re: how much?
Winter is the best time to do mods and it's very smart that you're running stockers in the winter, where do you live?

Re: how much?
To drop yours 3.5/4 it's gonna run around $500 aligned and uninstalled, but it'll ride better than stock if you spend that much on it.
In comparison you could drop it 1.5/2 for about $140 aligned if you wanted though. You could drop it 3/4 for about $250, but it'll ride a lot rougher. Ok here is a pic from the side of the truck. On the left is stock height and on the right is dropped. There is a red line running across both pics, lets say that the red line represents where the wheel wells are pictured in the 1st diagram above. Notice how on the dropped truck the tires are a lot closer to the inner fenders than on the stock height one. ![]() Last edited by ZQ8 Blazer : 08-17-2008 at 04:58 AM. |

Re: how much?
yeah the guy that i was going to get it done by said he would do any size drop for my blazer for $450 with an alignment and the cost of labor in that price. i would still like to do the work myself, that way i can learn how to do it.
i live in central illinois, so we get lots of snow, and lots of salt on the roads. so i figured i will change them out every winter. thinking about even getting some winter tires? i think i understand the drawings. thanks for those. |

Re: how much?
NP, $450 is pretty high to drop something in my opinion especially if he's not notching anything out back. Around here coil/block drops run about $100.

Re: how much?
yeah i dont think im going to have him do anything for me now. im just going to do the work myself and order the parts myself.
since im going to do this stuff over winter and ill have my stock tires on, what would be the maximum drop for those? the tires are 9.5" and are 235X70X16. next summer i may just go ahead and get something that will fit the drop. instead of dropping it to fit my wheels, ill do it the other way around. thanks steven |

Re: how much?
is there a list of all the parts that i need to bag it somewhere? i think im just going to wait until winter and bag it instead of dropping it. ill just buy all the parts and install it myself.

Re: how much?
also the lower you get to the rim/tire its going to suck when you go over big bumps and pulling into steep driveways and stuff,i dropped my last blazer just 3 inches in the rear with 22s and when i pulled into the driveway that i have which is very steep my tires rubbed the hell outta my fenderlips because of the way the rear suspension does,if i pulled in at a slant one tire would rub and one wouldnt i would of hated to have anymore than that, going over big quick dips with the front lowered that low will rub the tires everytime

Re: how much?
I may be wrong, but I don't think you can keep your A/C on 20's. That's how much it would run buy the stuff and help install it, if you don't do anything I'd say 5500 to 8000. That's for a good setup done right.

Re: how much?
well i read somewhere that somebody still had his a/c and back seat. i have it bookmarked on my comp. i liked it so much. he had 20/22 combo. exactly why cant i have a/c? does it need to be taken out, or does it just get disconnected?
is it possible for me to just bag the front, and put blocks in the back for right now? then just do the back when i got the cash? do i have enough to bag the front? |

Re: how much?
Well he kept his A/C because he just had 20's. The wheels will interfere with the A/C box which is attached to the firewall. Keep in mind that with 20/22 combo you can't rotate them.
You can just bag the front although I'd rather do it all at once. Do you have enough what? |

Re: how much?

Re: how much?
Yeah front is cheaper, but still's gonna cost you more than $700 when you factor in relocating everything, tubbing, and new fenders.
You can't relocate the a/c, well you can, but it'll cost a lot for the kit and it's a lot of work to get it working right. |

Re: how much?
Pull a leaf and get some 3" angled blocks or JTR blocks if you want to do it right, don't get a 4" block they're POS.

Re: how much?
Yeah We did a 3 inch block and pull a leaf technique and got like 6 inches on my old 4x4 blazer it was sick lol,oh and as for ac you can buy a hot rod ac system with heater and all for like $400 it goes under the dash and comes with a really small ac compressor and everything its for hot rods and old schools that didnt have ac from factory thats what im doin but thats only because the previous owner ripped all the ac components out when they were planning for a v8 swap so when i did my swap i just left the firewall smoothed and figured id do ac later on

Re: how much?
^That was the A/C system I was referring to, but it's a lot of work to do on a newer vehicle. Why can't you just get a stock A/C system?
I think you pulled the wrong leaf, the one right under the main one will give you like a 3" drop and the one above the overload gives you a 1.5" to 1.75" drop. It's not safe to pull the one under the main leaf. |
