Help with 5"/ 6" drop!!!
Okay I have an 02 reg cab with 5" of drop out back...
3" belltech leafs and a 2" block plus I hacked the bumpstops with a die grinder... If I want to go one more inch lower and slide a 3" block in there, what else will I need to modify? Do I have to relocate the evap canister/ brake line? (not notching by the way) thanks!! |

you might as well hang up the "not notching" mentality you have. you're gonna have to for a 6" drop in the back unless you like going to the chiropractor everyday. as for the evap can im not sure someone else may chime in on that. oh and i hope to God you have drop shocks on this truck.

Re: Help with 5"/ 6" drop!!!
just recently did the same drop out back with my brother on his s10. Only modifications were cutting the bumpstops and having the exhaust terminate under the cab due to clearance issues. Still a good ~2" of travel which is fine for the roads it sees. Your experience may vary- some need a notch others don't. It's not difficult to swap blocks so try it and react accordingly.
oh, and +1 for drop shocks, that's mandatory |

Re: Help with 5"/ 6" drop!!!
Yea I have previously owned a bagged s-series truck years ago, so when it comes to notching I've been there and done that.... I have since upgraded to a Mercedes Benz C32 AMG and bought a little S Dime for my daily beater. Thats why I don't wanna get all crazy with it... it needs to be daily driven and reliable. If the frame rails occasionally slap the axel housing, I won't be too bothered by it, I was more concerned with the evap canister/ brake line.
I will most definitely pick up some drop shocks though. Thanks for your help fellas! |

Re: Help with 5"/ 6" drop!!!
You can always get a bolt in notch. without one i dont see it riding very well (at least with the roads here it wont)
yes you do have to relocate the evap because the e-brake line hits against it. unless you relocate the e-brake cable. but all trucks are different and my friend's reg cab e-brake line doesnt rub so you may just need to see if it needs it or not after you drop it. |

Re: Help with 5"/ 6" drop!!!
LOL I have a 5.5" drop out back and I have a few inches between my frame and the axel ( w/o bumpstops or brackets ). Go check and see how much room you have between the axel and the frame and subtract an inch from it... if you've got 2-3" now, you'll be fine with the 3" blocks.... just keep an eye on your pinion angle, and I would definately rccomend some drop shocks if you dont have them already - I have Nitro2's and love them. |

Re: Help with 5"/ 6" drop!!!
i dropped 6" in the back and i only had to c-notch but i have an 02 bent frame blazer and theres a body mount directly above my axle. if you wanna go low your gonna have to cut your frame.
i know when your first starting out, cutting your truck in such a vital area can seem scary... but just grap the plasma cutter (id choose that over a torch if poss) and fire it up! i was afraid of messing up when i tubbed my truck cuz it was the first time ive ever tubbed anything, but i did my research, studied a lot of pics and threads and just dove in. im quite happy with the outcome. my point is, if its standing in the way of how you want your truck to look then youve got to do it. just dont go in unprepared. btw i flipped my leaf perches (the front mount of the leaf) and have 3" blocks in the rear. as for my e-brake cables i did have to re-route them but i cant remember how... whatever i did they are now zip tied to my sway bar, lol. and with 3" blocks you may want to flip the brake line fittings where they attach to the calipers (the little square with the hollow bolt through it) i agree, nitro II's are nice...
