Grinding noise after 3.5/3 Drop

Truck is a 97 std cab 4cyl standard suspension {NOT xtreme stock suspension], with 178,000miles.

I have a grinding noise in possibly my rear diff or from my driveshaft when i get going about 55-60 and up. I wont take it up over 70 cause im worried.
Its only when i let off the gas or take the truck out of gear at those speeds, If i accelerate or hold my speed it doesnt make the noise.
I installed beltech 2in drop spindles, v6 2in drop springs on a 4cyl truck so i ended up with around 3.5in drop up front. and i installed 3in straight drop blocks in the rear.

My neighbor thinks its the diff making the noise. when i let off the gas the slack in the bearings from the mileage causes the input shaft to travel a little out of the mesh of the gears in the diff. At least thats his theory. Anyone else had this problem before? I have heard a lot of shim talk or back spacers but im suppose to go out of town this weekend. 4 hr drive each way. Im not so comfortable now. I may end up pulling the kit off and going back to stock for a while.

Re: Grinding noise after 3.5/3 Drop

I put 4in angled blocks on last night to correct the angle the diff was sitting at. Now the grinding noise has stopped. But there is a high pitch whining noise coming from possibly the differential or drive shaft when i get above 5 mph. It is the same pitch no matter what speed and does not increase in loudness. I am about to take this damn drop kit off HelP>>>>

Yeah I figured it out but now i gotta get back spacers. The driveshaft is rubbing up against the rear output seal on the tranny. Anyone have pics of backspacers?

Very simple and inexpensive. Much cheaper than actually shortening the driveshaft.

Sweet my buddy and i made them today. took a half inch thick piece of steel. milled it down to size. drilled holes in it, cut a 9/16 rod and welded a piece in the block.

Yeah i saw that after i asked that. Umm well all i have is a dremel lol. i might be able to make it through it but its gonna take a while lol. Now next question. If i cut the bracket out my truck now has another like 4-5 inches of travel. Is that ****er gonna bounce far enough down to drag the gas tank on bumps and shit? Thats what im afraid of. Im not ready to bag it yet. but the more i play w/ the suspension the more i want to just say the hell w/ it. I can get flexible and rigid lines, bend the lines myself, an fittings, wire, adel clamps.... at work for free. all i would need is switches, bags, compressor, valves, tank.
