Find that Stance

Lets say you want to lower your truck. Think about all the factors involved in finding the stance you want.

- Overall height
- Rake
- Tire diameter
- Ground effects

A simple ?/? drop question simply doesn't cover it today. Since not all trucks are alike, a 2/3 on one truck can look very different as compared to another 2/3 truck. Plus throw in the ZQ8 package and 4wd's and it can get confusing quick.

How about a thread where all this info is listed where you can browse through, find some trucks you like, and then find out exactly what height they are at by looking at their measurements. You can then compare these measurements to yours, to see what all you need to do to get it to that stance.

1. Fender height. This is a measurement from the ground to the highest point on the bottom lip of the crown of the wheel well. These dimensions would be listed at all four corners. Make sure to do this on level ground after the suspension has settled.

DF = (Driver Front) PF = (Passenger Front)
DR = (Driver Rear) PR = (Passenger Rear)

2. Tire Size. List your tire size at the front and the rear, even side to side if you feel so inclined.
Front = ???/??/R??
Rear = ???/??/R??

3. Drop Parts. The good old fashioned ?/? information, and what parts you used to achieve it(if applicable).

4. Pictures. A simple front and rear shot will do it, if you could resize them to decrease load time, that would be swell.

Rear = 295/35/R18

3.

Rear - 3" Belltech Drop Leafs, 3" Drop Blocks, Roadmaster Sping set up raised it up 1/2" from the tension.

Re: Find that Stance

I've been trying to explain this to people for months when they ask about lowering their truck. I'll be sure to measure my truck when I get my C6s back on.

Possibly another suggestion would be wheel size and offset and if it rubs or not. This would make this a definitive list for what wheels fit and don't.

Sure, feel free to add any info you think would be useful.

On the front of mine, the tire will hit the frame before full lock. If the suspension compress completly, the top of the tire will rub on the inner fender, a rare occurance though. This is with a 18x8 with 4.5" of backspacing

Wheels are the stock 15x7, I've never measured the backspacing. No rubbing or decrease of turning radius.

Re: Find that Stance

I don't meant to get off topic, but I currently have a 2/3 right now, my rear is dynamic since i got shocks that you can pump air into to raise it, so my truck is usually around a 2/3. If I need to, it can be a 2/4 or 2/1.

Anywho, I want to go lower, and i'm wondering if anyone ever had their wheels rub with 2" spindles and 2" coils. I have the stock tires, 205/75/15.

Re: Find that Stance

205/60R15, 2in spindles, and "2in v6 coils" i bought which dropped me about 3inches,
and blocks and pulled leafs(from the z85)

the massive chevy lean on the rear as shown on these pics has been fixed since, and now both sides of the rear are within 1/4" of eachother, although i dont rememebr the measurements. the front's chevy lean has not been touched.

driver front

pass front

driver rear

pass rear

for this stance on 205/60/15s
