Re: easy dropping

bodydropping is where you cut the entire floor of ther cab out, lower it down and welded it back in solid.. so i doubt thats what your reffering to.

Your best bet is gonna be just pick up a set of 2" drop spindles for the front, and 3" lowering blocks for out back. With this setup you can reuse, or just replace your shocks with standard factory replacements, no need for expensive drop shocks and it will still ride like stock.

Re: easy dropping

or just do 3" blocks and coil springs up front. They're a little cheaper than spindles, but spindles would be the best way.

Re: easy dropping

that's ghetto as hell.. especially on a strut style suspension system, that car has to ride bouncy and ruff as hell.

well since your going the cheapest way out.. each 1/2 of a turn off the bottom of the coil will give you 1" of drop. I could go into the reasons behind why i wouldnt go with cut coil method.. but mehh you'll find out after awhile of driving on it.

Out back.. ya have to use blocks, good lord they're only 30 bucks for a universal set from the parts store, ya cant be that cheap.

Re: easy dropping

Tell your friend a guy from Kentucky said he's an idiot for doing that. I'll never understand why someone wants to be cheap when it comes to ride quality.

Seriously just get coils and blocks man. Shouldn't be over $150 after alignment. If you can find ZQ8 coils(1.5" drop) then it would be even cheaper. At least do it 1/4 of the way right.

remove the middle leaf for a cheap rear drop and cut 1/2 a coil for about 1" drop up front.

yeah pulling the middle makes it bouncy but pulling the one above the overload makes it ride smoother.

Justin, it looks like I need to drive out your way for an alignment because you can't get away with a $100 front end only alignment. Then add to that, finding a place that wants to do anything with a lowered truck. lol

Re: easy dropping

Yeah I don't know what the deal is with these places everyone lives. I know 3 places I can go where they'll get me in pretty quick and will charge 40-50 for an alignment. I've heard a few guys that can't get a crossover pipe made when I called my exhaust guy up and he bent me a custom exhaust from the headers to right before the axle including a 40 series flowmaster for like $210 or $220. I guess people around here tend to try and help others out more than worry so much about money.

Re: easy dropping

NO, most people on here using 4 links just use them for bags.

If you want to do it that way then go to suicidedoors.com. Get a 3 link setup, brackets that go onto the back of the axle, and mounting brackets that weld onto the frame, then get coil overs.

nope... not many road courses around here...

and since your such hot shit and know everything with your smartass response then why are you asking such trivial questions??

we should be learning from you I suppose... don't act like pulling a leaf and cutting a spring is a good idea one second and then act like your a suspension genius the next...

You never stated anything about wanting to set it up for road courses so how are we suppose to know that's what you're wanting to do? Hell a week ago you didn't know which was easier, body dropping or static dropping but now you know all about setting one up for road courses...

Are you talking about setting it up to handle good or to actually race it... Cause that tutu ain't gonna do much racing.

Re: easy dropping

tutu's actually hold there own on a small road course.. ya never get out of 2nd or atmost 3 gear thru all the twisties. Now if ya have long open strait aways.. yeah forget it.

But either way, i doubt this kid will be road racing his truck anytime soon. He goes from asking how to pull a leaf and hack the coils too a "road racing setup" over night.. yet gets pissed when people question him.

Anyways.. Now that ya have a decent paying job, why not just buy a set of 2" spindles, 2" coils, 3" drop leaves, a 2" set of lowering blocks, and some nice drop shocks for each corner and lower the truck to handle properly. Then down the road once your use to that handling, maybe then consider the 4 link and coil over shocks.
