Saturday night I was pulling out of my driveway and the bolt that adjust the camber (goes through the upper control arm and cross shaft) broke in half. I took the front end apart and figured, while I was in there, I will replace my Belltech springs with my new Ground Force springs I bought from suicidal a few months ago. The front is now very low. I had to take my ZQ8's with 245/50/16's off and trade them with my Blazer's swirlies w/ 225/60/15's. The tie rod scrubbed so bad it was undrivable. I will post pics tonight when I get home, but measurements for the front are now:
Left Front = 23 1/8 Right Front = 23 1/4 |

Re: Dropped, Again
The truck has almost 300,000 miles on it, so I assume it was just from age. I am just lucky that it broke pulling out of my driveway and not going 70 on the interstate. The truck made almost a 90 degree right turn when the bolt broke so it could have been really bad.
I think suicidal may have sent me the 4 cyl. springs. I had Belltech 4202's (1 inch) on there and put in the ground force springs which are 6 cyl. 3 inch. I already have Belltech drop spindles. It is slammed! Last edited by SmokeeJay : 08-19-2008 at 11:54 AM. |

Re: Dropped, Again
I have never heard of that bolt breaking, but 300k is a lot.
Are you sure the spring wasn't cut, I don't know how much more a 4cyl spring will drop a V6. How much drop were the new springs suppose to give you? What height was you at before you swapped springs? I would have given you a pretty penny for those ZQ8's. |

Re: Dropped, Again
The springs were not cut as they still have the original paint on them. The ZQ8's are now on my 01 Blazer and look great! They were suppose to be 3 in. springs, but i believe they dropped more like 4.5 inches. I have been trying to find my previous measurements so I can compare. I usually measure before I put in springs, but I was not planning on putting in the springs until I had to tear the front end apart.

Re: Dropped, Again
I THINK I read somewhere that the 4cyl springs drop a V6 another 1.5 Inches or so, but I'm about 20% sure on that one.
I thought you meant you gave up some ZQ8's for a set of Swirlies to someone else. The ZQ8's look great on Blazers, I know. |

Re: Dropped, Again
My SS now tucks the front tires in the fender by about 1/2 inch. It looks great, but underside clearance is maybe 2 inches.

Re: Dropped, Again
I will post up pics tonight when I get home from work. The 01 Blazer has 3/4 drop w/ ZQ8's and 245/50/16's and the SS now has swirlies w/ 225/60/15's.

Re: Dropped, Again
I would love to drop the Blazer more, but the wife wont let me. I talked her into letting me trade the wheels because I told her the ZQ8's would raise it up some.

Re: Dropped, Again
That looks bad ass just drop the back some more, who cares if you can drive it or not! I originally had my Blazer @ 3/4 and hated it, I dropped it 4/4.5 and it looks and rides a lot better now, mainly because I got drop shocks now.

Re: Dropped, Again
I am doing the back soon. It already has ZQ8 leaf springs and 2 inch blocks. I am either changing to a 3 inch or 4 inch block. Havent decided yet. I want to put some drop spindles on the Blazer so bad, but the wife hates it being lowered already. She wants a minivan, so as soon as I can get her one, the Blazer is mine again!

Re: Dropped, Again
She just hates my trucks because I give them more attention. :-0 I have 4 inch blocks on the blazer already and I really dont have the money to spend on leaf springs right now.

Re: Dropped, Again
Oh, well she sounds like my wife then, she's a little better now that I have a pretty much stock truck, but every time I tell her what I'm going to do to it she acts offended or something.
I had 4" ones to begin with, but I later pulled a leaf, which dropped me 1.75" and it rode a little smoother, I then added a 2" block, 3deg shim, and a setback plate which gave me a total drop of 4.5" I love how mine rides to be honest with you. |

Re: Dropped, Again
I was told when I bought the truck that it had 2 inch springs, but it only had 1 inch springs with 2 inch spindles. It was sitting around 26ish before and now sits at 23ish. I wasnt expecting it to come down so much, but it looks great. Just have to watch were I go now, but isnt that the life of a mintrucker?? :-)

Re: Dropped, Again
I cant wait to lower the back some more. You would never believe the back already has ZQ8 springs and 2 inch blocks. Maybe one day when I dont have to drive it daily, I will put a small block in it.
Side note, I hit a small man hole cover last night leaving work and put a little hole in the exhaust cross pipe :-0 |

Re: Dropped, Again
I am heading to Godfather Customs in the morning to pick up some DJM 4 inch blocks. By tomorrow afternoon, I should have the back done. As long as I dont have to stand in line forever at godfather.

Re: Dropped, Again
Went to godfather customs this morning, but they did not have the blocks in stock so I will get them probably friday. I told the guy that I drove their to save on shipping, he gave my son a free tshirt, which I thought was pretty cool.

Re: Dropped, Again
Well, still no blocks, but I did remove the screws on the inside of my fenderwells as they were rubbing on the tires and also fixed my exhaust leak. Exhaust tape is pretty cool.

Re: Dropped, Again
I take back my comment on the exhaust tape. It started leaking again 2 days after install. Still no blocks from godfather. They told me wed. that they shipped a week ago monday. I guess I have to call again.
