Okay so i have a 98 reg cab s10, lowered with ground force 3" drop coils, c5 vette rims with a 225/45/17 up front.
I took the bumpstops off a while back and today i got new ones that are smaller, they work great, BUT i am bottuming out on the rear of the spring pocket still, i never knew what was hitting when i bottomed out until today when i jacked it up to put the new bumpstops on. okay so now my question, can i trim the spring pocket for the LCA to have more clearance so that it will quit bottuming out so damn hard? i am planning to bag the front here soon, i have the drop spindles ready to be put on, and now that i have my smaller front tires to go on the truck i can install them and know i can lay out no problem. anyway, will it hurt to put a small notch in the spring pocket or should i not do that? when i bag it i will need to do it anyway.. if i cant notch it what are my other options as far as keeping stock arms and stuff? i dont really want to dehump them now if i dont have to, but i can if its really the only option. here are some pics of where its rubbing and stuff. ( i know it looks like i still have a lot of clearance between the arm and the pocket but the truck was jacked up a little bit to take the pics.) right side ![]() left side ![]() view of right side from the front, excuse that swaybar, i know its ghetto but hey it got it level haha. ![]() |

Re: A quick question about my spring pocket, and lower control arms..
okay i heres a quick drawing i did to show what im asking, can i do this without running into problems ?
i am just wondering because i would like to have the extra clearance just for ride quality, and if people with bags can almost cut the whole spring pocket out, i think i can trim some off mine, but just wanna make sure before something gets screwed up ![]() anyway is this doable? ![]() so much for my little message box i typed hhaa Last edited by colbye32 : 08-19-2008 at 11:50 PM. |

Why not just take the hump off the CA?

Yeah if I ever ran 3" coils I'd HAVE to de-hump them.

nah that could melt again on real hot days, JB is the way to go. I know a guy that fixed a tranny pan seal leak with it, no really I do.
