Re: 5" blocks

nah, if they wanna think its safe or a good ride with tall blocks, let them... my truck isnt on the road

i used to think blocks give the same ride, but from when i took my 3" blocks out, i will never say blocks are a good way to drop a truck.

Re: 5" blocks

I've only ran the 2" blocks and didn't notice any difference. Not interested in trying tall ones though.

Re: 5" blocks

^do you have a 2/2.5 drop or a 2/2.5 drop on top of the 1.5 drop???

Come to think of it mine does ride better now with a pulled leaf, 2" blocks, shims, and set backs. I was using the same shocks with the 4" blocks that I'm using with the new setup. What would make the ride better other than different pinion angle(the 4" ones had a different degree on the angle) and the setbacks. I mean it's not drastically better or anything, but it is noticeable.

02 Black S-10 Xtreme ext. cab 4.3, additional 2/2.5 drop and a bunch of other stuff

You have shorter shock travel now with the pulled leaf. Drop shocks maybe?

It's only a guess, but you more than likely need about the same angle shims you had before. You still have near the same total drop don't you? Need to get those measurements if you haven't already.

Re: 5" blocks

Sorry me no read so good.

I thought the distance of travel on my drop shocks might come into play with the ride but didn't know.

The pinion angle is correct now. That 4" block threw it off. I am 1/2" lower now.

You have 4" angled on a std cab? i though angled were only for ext cab? I have 3" straight blocks on mine but a set of 4" angled sitting around. My front bumper is 3 inchs from the ground i would like to pull it up about a half to 1 inch lowering the back a little bit more.

Maybe, maybe not. Is it a noise or a vibration?

Re: 5" blocks

I'm currently running zq8 leafs and 4" angled blocks, rides fine but I bottom out on my frame just as much when I had 3" angled blocks, don't see the big issue in it.

I'm also running 20s with 35 series tires, bagged in the front. I never heard or would recommend a 5" block doesnt sound save, Only temporary until I bag the rear in the next few months

Re: 5" blocks

If you don't see the big issue then that's ok.

I don't see how you can bottom out on the frame the same when you're an inch closer to it...

Basically what I was trying to say is I bottom out on my frame at the same exact areas I used to bottom out when I had my 3" blocks, one spot is on the freeway going to work and another spot going home from work other than that I never bottom out.

So to me there is no difference between running either or, Now if your going to be permanently static I would recommend just picking up 3" drop leafs and 2"-3" blocks with a bolt in c-notch.
